"I'm thankful for One Lung McClung"

Thanks for this thread. It lead me to the blog and there are some great posts about other members of the Real Life Band of Brothers.

It is sad to realize that as the days pass the Men that defended our nation against the Axis Powers in WWII are soon to all be lost to us.

A whole section of important history will be gone soon as the people who were there will no longer be with us. Productions like Band of Brothers helps to stem that tide.

Thanks to you "One Lung" you served your country well.

Another hero has left us.

When I was a little kid, I must’ve been surrounded by WWII Veterans.

I wish I’d known then what I know now. I would’ve asked them about their experiences and written down everything they said.

Thank God a few talented authors (namely Mr. Brotherton) had the wherewithal to do just that.

Rest in Peace, Mr. McClung, and Thank You for your service and sacrifice.

I am thankful this man lived and fought on our side.

He seemed like the typical person that is proud to be called an American.Life was not easy for him, but he persevered through triumph and tragedy.

The idiot in the White House will not note his passing, but we will.

Thank you,Earl.

Rest easy, soldier. You’ve earned it.

My Father was in the 502nd at the same time and fought the same Battles, Carenten, Holland, The Bulge, ending up at Hitlers Hideaway. There is a famous picture of Ike talking to the Paratroops before D-Day and I found out the Guy standing next to the Lt. Ike was talking too was his Platoon Sgt. Bill Boyle. Boyles uniform is at the Careten Musaum in France and they also have my Dads Paratrooper boots.http://www.paratrooper-museum.org/
