In my opinion, I think it’s because libs like to live in fantasyland a/k/a the only place where their ideas actually work.

WHY DO LIBS OWN THE ARTS?

Because that is an area taken over by the marxists in the 1920's/1930's and perpetuated to this day by academic tenure which is nothing more than an ideological vetting process.

WHY DO LIBS OWN THE ARTS?

Because working for a living sucks.

An artist is a businessperson - they hate it, but it's true - with a product to sell. Sometimes it's on the basis of merit, sometimes not, just like everything else that gets sold. Imagine the temptation of a system where you can force people to buy!

commies took refuge there.

unionistas took refuge there (with their commie buddies).

naive idealists took refuge there, to ‘change the world’ and ‘influence society’.

people with grudges and radical agendas took refuge there, to ‘change the world’ and ‘influence society’.

Because they only think with one side of their brain, and it isn't the logical side.

So they get all feely and they do some arts thingies. Then they go out and vote for Obama because Obama makes them feeeel so good.

I think that the best explanation as to why the arts crowd is liberal is that the modern arts are almost entirely driven by feelings, and feelings -- not facts and thinking -- are similarly the driving force of modern liberalism. Notably, restrained, classical artistic modes seem the most likely to generate the occasional conservative artist.

Among actors, for example, strong male leads tend to be more conservative than their professional colleagues. Their acting style if often criticized as wooden or understated, unlike emotion driven method actors.

Life experience matters though, such as with Robert Downey, Jr., who went from liberal to conservative due to his experiences as a drug addict. This supports the observation that conservatism is grounded in the sometimes harsh realities of life.

Because weak Conservatives support them by purchasing movie tickets, DVDs, concert tickets, and various music media.

They have great imaginations. They are not burdened by reality.

Good method actors can make themselves believe a fantasy. The fantasy is real to them. This is also a trait required of Leftists.

I know democrats/liberal own all the news media

if you think differently then answer why the trayvon bs was the top news story for months? why was everyone talking about that bs? that's news? that's important to everyone's lives? or would that story help advance the democrats anti gun agenda ? it's the latter . there are no news stories only event s that will advance socialism

news reporters are all democrat political activists. a socialist/democrat becomes a reporter in order to advance socialism (their religion). it's so that reporter can have a captive audience to listen to them evangelize ( the morons watching the TV news on tv think it's news but it’;s not it's political , a political sermon, a religions sermon. ) and it is a religion because the God of democrats is government and they don't believe in a God.. we are fighting a rabid cult that aims to turn the USA into a socialist state where the gov owns everything including all power over us. that's called socialism/marxism/collectivism. the individual has no right to own property, no rights at all , no freedom. only when you own property can you direct your own life. socialists want the state to redistribute all wealth , all property as they see fit. so similarly they took over other institutions, acedemia, the sciences, arts , gov schools etc., as they did the media to change the world , for socialism.

The nail was hit on the head with the word, PERCEPTION.

As both a fiction and nonfiction writer in my time, I can tell you that a lot of libs parrot a lot of ideas, but cannot really come up with something poignant. As with younger speakers of the language today, a lot of half-finished expressions of thought were evoked, choked with the standard ‘ya know’, ‘like’, ‘understand’, or ‘it may be that’, instead of one complete sentence, with A verb and A noun, that makes sense. The very ‘perception’ that you, the listener, can decode what the speaker has just stated, and come to a solid conclusion, IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE to them! “So it was spoken, so let it be written!”

(Definition, “in my time”: U.S. D.o.D., Contractor Regulation, Directives, Manuals, Instructional Requirement Transition to European I.S.O. Aerospace Vehicle Manufacturing Standards, 1990 - 1994; Science Fiction Editor for The Cheek, 1996; Guest Columnist, The Town Talk, 2006 - 2012, now retired.)

It’s amazing that they claim to be great supporters of the arts but everytime you turn around, some museum is in financial trouble or some artist is begging for money to complete a project. And then they complain about corporate greed, all the while accepting corporate sponsorship to show their work.
