Artist from 2007 bomb scare headlining First Night (Boston)

An artist who carried out the 2007 marketing stunt that prompted a massive citywide bomb scare — lambasted then by Mayor Thomas M. Menino — is now headlining the city’s First Night celebration.

Berdovsky has been contracted by First Night Boston to stage a $50,000 electronic show that will be the centerpiece of the 2014 New Year’s celebration in Copley Square.

But Menino’s office scoffed at the idea that Berdovsky might be a poor choice for a city-sponsored event so close to the scene and time of the deadly April 15 marathon bombing attacks.

This was those strange electronic devices with cartoon characters and light bulbs - reminded me of Lite Brite with a twist, at the time.

Obviously anybody can just go ahead and call one’s self an “artist”.

Kind of like calling ones self “Liberal” automatically makes you Whip-Smart Brilliant.

The guy basically put a few Hasbro Lite-Brites® on public display in Boston without letting anyone know he was doing it, and the whole city of Boston flipped their wigs and declared themselves under attack by Al-Qaeda terrorists.
