Raquel Welch: Was She Frozen in Time?

Was Raquel Welch somehow frozen in time? The 73-year-old beauty appeared on Saturday at the 2013 Governors Awards, and her looks rival those of a 40-year-old woman.

Wearing an off-the-shoulder red gown, with a V-neck plunging down to there and a slit that came up almost to it, Welch looked every bit the elegant woman she has been for decades. The body-hugging number didn’t reveal a bump or a bulge. It’s no wonder younger men find her attractive!

One younger man who definitely finds Raquel Welch attractive, but was also quick to point out that the two didn’t hook up per recent rumors, is Nigel Lythgoe of both American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance fame. Rumors had the two dating since September and more recently had an impending wedding date set for them to tie that proverbial knot. Not true and not true, however.

I knew a fellow that was in the Green Beret’s with Raquel’s first husband. This retired Green Beret, who lost a leg in Vietnam, had a very low opinion of Raquel because she abandoned him when a talent scout noticed her beauty while he was at Fort Bragg. (I know this differs from her Oprah bio)

Ever since I’ve had little use for her other than she’s good looking.

No, Don’t you know that she is a Conservative and everyone on the FR blog agrees that Conservative women are good looking.

I agree. The worship of youth is folly.

Here is some of her bio, it may have been a normal divorce.

” Taking dance lessons as a youngster, she grew up to be quite a knockout and nailed a number of teen beauty titles (”Miss Photogenic,” “Miss La Jolla,” “Miss Contour,” “Miss Fairest of the Fair” and “Miss San Diego”). With her sights set on theater arts, she studied at San Diego State College on a scholarship starting in 1958 and married her first husband, high school sweetheart James Welch, the following year. They had two children Damon Welch (born 1959) and Tahnee Welch (born 1961).””

“Off campus Raquel became a local TV weather girl in San Diego and eventually quit college. Following the end of her marriage in 1961 (she and Welch didn’t divorced until 1965), she packed up her two children and moved to Dallas, Texas, where she modeled for Neiman-Marcus and worked as a barmaid for a time. Regrouping, she returned to California, migrated to Los Angeles, and made the rounds of film/TV auditions. Providing minor but sexy set decoration on the small screen (”Bewitched” (1964), “McHale’s Navy” (1962) and “The Virginian” (1962))”

At the filming of Bandelero Raquel was standing there with Jimmy Stewart as locals from Del Rio were constantly coming up asking for autographs. Raquel began to complain and Stewart, the astute person he was, reminded her that these are the people that make her salary and make her famous. Right there he did that in front of everybody. Raquel stfu and began to sign autographs. I was only 14 and got to hang around them as several of the character actors had befriended me and allowed me on the set. Andrew Prine, Donald "Red" Barry and several others came to my football games that fall as there was very little to do after a day's filming. Andrew McLaughan even came over to our house for dinner a couple of times.

Nice story, looks like she took it to heart.

Jimmy Stewart was one of the best men ever, IMO.

“Beautiful, witty, funny, and built like the proverbial masonry outdoor plumbing facility...”

I dunno about that. Personally, I always thought she built like a brick sh!thouse but to each their own.

Why would she stop the glamour stuff, even if she doesn’t get to wear the bikini, with a dagger at the hips, of course, hold the knife and conche shell and get laid on the sand with .007 any more??

Uhhhh ... That was Ursula Andress in Dr. No. Welch didn’t make the cut on that’n ...
