The owner of a dog shot that was shot and killed by Colorado police officers is suing Commerce City and three cops for $1 million in damages.
The officers involved in the shooting of the chocolate lab/pit bull mix, Chloe, were cleared of any wrongdoing in a criminal trial.
The video of Chloes killing went viral on the Internet and many people were horrified by what had happened and protested about the excessive use of force. That is just part of the reason that Gary Branson has decided to file the civil case.
Chloe helped Branson recover after undergoing triple bypass surgery in 2008.
"She motivated me," Branson said. "When you have a surgery like that, that's going to bring you down. She was always there to perk me up, whether it was by licking my toes or begging for a bone. She just brightened my day, every day."
Branson cites the severe emotional distress that he has suffered and, although hes already gotten another dog, he claims his life will never be the same.
I cant replace Chloe, said Branson, there are so many dogs being shot needlessly it needs to come to a stop.
This is the video of the incident:
I believe I would have gotten a gun and shot that goddam skinhead cop for shooting a dog that was already harnessed. Four shots on a dog that was already restrained and backing away from them. Chickenshit coward skinhead goon.
The cops will try to get a second crooked judge.
I hope they sue the bastids—especially the one who actually shot the dog.
Nothing from the dog looked threatening to me—and they had caught her and could have easily put him in their car and driven her to the pound.
Then the judge should get his rewards too. Dog NEVER left the confines of the garage, was tasered, then pulled out and backing away from everyone and the skinhead cop shoots him 4 times. Damn....we don’t need Gestapo like this - EVER.
Cowards with guns....
Calling all pit bull haters to say it was a justified shooting.
At the very least, that cop needs an ass kicking that he will remember for life. I hope the owner wins this lawsuit, and the jackbooted thug loses every thing he has. There are getting to be two many cowards like him on police forces. They are dangerous to everyone.
If that were my dog the cops involved would already have disappeared, never to be seen again.

Ditto. This seems to be a method of choice rather than necessity. I wouldn’t bitch had the dog been a trained fighter, but to just randomly off a dog because the cop has a gun is synonymous with Jackbooted thuggery for which we as a society need to reject with prejudice.
“Chickenshit coward skinhead goon.”
That’s a fact.
This? is the guy that shot a harnessed dog 4 times?
5 times
Why were the cops even there?
No. It’s his boss.
The answer to much of this is STOP CALLING THE COPS! If they’re not there, they can’t kill your dog. It has got to the point where calling a cop is counter-productive.
If for some reason a cop comes to your house DO NOT let him or her in without a search warrant. And when they do show up, tell them to wait because you have to put your dog in a back bedroom so they won’t shoot it.
Actually, the pig shot the dog 5 times. Once was too many.
