A Swedish teenager has filed a complaint against a paint producer that labeled the color beige as "skin color." Thyra,14, whose last name wasn't reported, said she discovered the paint sold by Universal Color and Chemicals at school, TheLocal.se reported.
"By renaming beige to skin color they show that there is a whiteness norm in society," Thyra told the Aftonbladet newspaper. "It is completely sick that they just rename beige to skin color when black and brown are also that," she added.
Thyra has taken her complaint to the Equality Ombudsman on the basis that the term "skin color" is racist.
Thyra's father said his daughter was motivated by her sister.
"Her little sister has brown skin but according to the paint manufacturer she has no skin color. ... I think [the company] just looked at themselves and imagined that's what skin was," he told the newspaper.
Thyra is such a good little Nazi.
Oops. Just saw your post. Yeah, I was born in ‘60 and remember using “flesh.” Maybe they were just phasing them out of their stock during most of the 60s?
When I was a foreman I had a black painter we all called “Congo” because his skin tone matched our “Congo Brown” paint.
He’s half biege.
Just rename the color “cracker.”
The Crayola color names were pretty imaginative. I remember “midnight blue” and “forest green.”
Does that mean we can no longer buy “black” paint? (sarc)
What do yo do if you are aliberal and have nothing to do? You invent something to be “offended” about!
Ban paint.
It’s obviously an attack on people of color.
I think that renaming beige to skin color would show that there is a beigeness norm in society.
The Crayola color names are here.
Interesting that "Prussian blue" was changed to "midnight blue" in 1958.
They can take their filthy beigenorming and go home
Of course, her brainwashing prepared her for this and she thought by doing it should be a star. It’s an ego trip, pure and simple. True of all leftist grandstanders of any age.
I think this issue was handled more than 20 years ago when someone complained about Band-Aids being labeled as “flesh-toned” for the color. They soon stopped using the term. I think Crayola was called out for this “offense” as well.
What at least it was Coco.
I was afraid to say Milky Way because it might be construed as racist
Jaw-dropping young PC moron.
You can still call it "black", but only if it's "down with the cause".
FFS...STFU!!!
