How is it “crumbling” after two years? My grandkids are playing with hand me down iPads that have to be near five years old.

I have one. It’s night and day better than the iPad2. Retina display. Longer battery life. Less weight. It’s great

Have been thinking about an iPad Air, too. Will check back later.

My iPad2 is still working great, btw.

Nexus 7 is wicked fast, reliable and the Google Play store is huge now. And oh yeah, less than half the price of the Air.

I have an iPad 1 and the mini I’m typing on now. Love the mini and doubt I’d go back to a full size iPad. I keep the old ipad for watching movies and Netflix.

If you are going to get an iPad Air, check out Target, they have it for 30 bucks cheaper plus they include a gift card. I have the iPad 4th Gen so I wont be upgrading..I saw the iPad Air last week, its alright, definitely thinner(on the sides) and doesnt feel as bulky but other than that its pretty much the same as the previous generation

I bought the iPad Air the day they went on sale. I had an iPad 1 that I stood in line for many years ago. It still works great but is heavy. I am still keeping my iPad 1.

I love that it is light but am not sure I like iOS 7. I would never consider another brand.

Just got mine on Thursday .

As light as a mini , The screen size makes for a great relief now that I don’t have to enlarge to read the freerepublic site. Much brighter and much faster than a mini. Requires a CASE because it is slippery. Apps load 10X faster.

All in all, it is an incredible improvement over the “postage stamp”.

Not sure what you do with it but I have a kindle fire and I love it. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper.

I should add, these are indispensable tools and entertainment units. If you believe the value us in an upgrade and it makes sense to you, the leap from the 2 to the "air" will probably justify it.

We didn't own any Apple components until around mid 2009. Now Apple outnumbers PC/Andriod PC, tablet or phone devices combined.

We are big believers in the quality and utility. Treat yourself and enjoy.

I have one in 16 GB. Decided to go with the lower storage capacity because I do the cloud now. Love this iPad! Basically compare a hard cover to a paperback book as far as weight and comfort in using. Magnetic smart cover is better than the overall leather cover because it fits better. The only tiny issue that I have with it is when typing is noisier. I know that sounds weird but it seems to have a louder tapping noise when you type. I think it has something to do with the glass being thinner and the overall body being thinner. It is incredibly fast and has a beautiful screen. I also added an invisible shield HD screen protector.
Final word is I have had nearly every iPad since the beginning. This one is head and shoulders above the rest.

I’m running with an iPad 4 right now. Later I’ll be considering an iPad Air. If I had a model earlier than the 4th generation - then I would be getting an iPad Air right away.

AND ... for all you other folks who don’t have an iPad - well ... it pretty much does 80% (or more) of what your desktop does. My iPad goes with me everywhere and I can keep up on my business (personal, that is ...) wherever I’m at.

An iPhone is useful in that regard, too — but the larger screen of the iPad is essential, I think.

Y’all get an iPad. You won’t be disappointed.

My 2 cents: I am using an iPad 1 right now. Websites that are image and popup intensive crash more often than they used to but it still works fine. If money isn't a big deal to you get the newest and 6 months later it will NOT be the newest anymore....but it will work just fine. If you want to be more frugal buy the “used to be newest” and it will also work just fine. Check out Ebay when the new model comes out (like now); there are still Appleholics out there that will sell their “last years model” to get the newest. You can pick up a bargain this way.
