Kuna High junior wide receiver Boone Bartlome broke the fourth cervical vertebra (C4) in his neck when he lost his footing while blocking during a running play Friday night at Bishop Kelly High, Kuna High football coach Lee Leslie confirmed Saturday.

As the emergency vehicle drove away, the teams came together and knelt in prayer at midfield. Players and coaches from both teams grasped hands and bowed their heads in an emotional on-field moment led by Leslie.

All those prayers...I hope our good Lord has infinite mercy and pity. LOTS of hope for the young man.
Both of my ids went to HS there. Good school.
Prayers for this kid...
That’s a very moving picture. I think God hears them loud and clear.
Right down the street from me on Franklin. Great school.
I had a classmate years ago who was paralyzed for life just by sliding into home plate during a baseball game. He was 15-years old.
I sure hope this young man comes out of this trauma OK.
It’s amazing that 90% of the kids there go on to college.
That’s a very moving picture.
I so hope and pray that the young man is alright.

Last week’s heavyweight bout between Perez and Abdusalamov was an incredible fight. Abdusalamov had been complaining about a broken nose or bleeding on his left face in the 2nd round, each time he went to the corner, but continued to box.
The commentators remarked how many heavy punches were being delivered nearly equally in number in each round by each of the boxers. During the fight and near the 10th-12th rounds, the announcers thought he must have either suffered a combination broken jaw, ocular, nose, or similar grouping due to swelling on the face.
I’m sure all involved now wish they had a ringside doctor more closely scrutinize his condition in the 2nd round.
look for some atheists to file lawsuits.
I was just thinking about the irony of that picture given that these young men are not allowed to pray or utter the name of the Lord in any schoolroom or at any ceremony
Of course, you know that being severely injured playing baseball is the exception; in football it is common.
We're not reading about retired Major League Baseball players being unable to physically function or suffering from severe mental disorders. No, it's retired NFL players.
I am fully aware of that fact. Football, for some folks, is nearly holy in how it is regarded in this country. It is a subject I handle carefully.
The number one cause of children’s deaths during sports in this country: equine sports. I know of people who wear chest protectors, steel-toed boots and helmets while just ground handling horses or ponies.
I thought you did know that and did not seek to insult you.
Coming from Alabama (no longer there, though), I long ago tired of hearing the constant rah-rah-rah about the Crimson Tide and whatever Auburn is known by. Consequently, I am contemptuous of anything related to football and really don’t care who knows it. I wouldn’t walk across the street to see any football game ever played.
I’ve never attended a football game, even in high school; but that was mostly due to working an after-school job.
