Introducing the world's first anti-rape pants. This is wrong on so many levels
The Telegraph ^ | 11/8/2013 | Jake Wallis Simons

Take a look at them here, via indiegogo.com, the crowdfunding website which enables entrepreneurs to appeal to the world for funding for their big ideas. Two New York women called Ruth and Yuval – who only go by their first names, but don't let's judge – have formed a company called AR Wear (AR for Anti-Rape), which aims to produce "confidence and protection that can be worn".

These items of underwear, feature cut-resistant fabrics, a "reinforced skeletal structure" around the crotch, and combination locks around the thighs and waist which are intended to allow women to "feel safer" whether "on a first date", "clubbing", or "out for an evening run".

In their sales pitch, Ruth and Yuval are quick to point out that "rape is about as wrong as it gets" (thanks for that), and that "the only one responsible for a rape is the rapist". But, they argue, a woman will feel safer if she is wearing pants that are "very difficult for someone else to remove by either force or stealth (in situations where the victim cannot resist because she has had too much to drink, was drugged, or is asleep)".

The bizarre fundraising video – which looks like a cutesy Apple advert combined with, well, pants that are impossible to remove – includes shots of women smiling and having a boogie alongside footage of a man trying unsuccessfully to cut through the pants with a dagger. There's even a bit where a group of white women in mini-skirts walk confidently past a black man. But I'm going to gloss over that.

This is the third article I've seen in which a Liberal is upset -- very upset -- that a product is being marketed to consumers who might wish not to be raped.

I guess the Liberals feel that the rapists' rights are being denied.

The Leftists are unhappy to see the power of Muslims over European women diminished.

This sort of blames the victim, but I heard Walter Williams say that, if you drive your car into a bad neighborhood, park it, leave the keys and your wallet on the roof, if someone takes it, they are to blame, but you are stupid.

If you don’t want it take, in today’s instant gratification culture, if you don’t want it taken lock it up, but hiding it also makes sense, if you catch my drift.

Liberals also vehemently opposed "Star Wars Missile Defense", apparently because trying to stop nuclear missiles is a bad thing, too.

As always, the Left is about death, decay, and destruction.

so.... if the perp who slips out of darkness finds and attacks the young woman with the rape proof pants...he will not beat the victim to a pulp until said pants are removed?

perhaps make it with a time lock?

For the later part of the 19th Century, into the 20th Century, polite women had an effective defense against rape in the form of hat pins. Certain men had strong objections against that as well:

“Laws were passed in 1908 in America which limited the length of hatpins, as there was a concern they might be used by suffragettes as weapons. Also by the 1910s, ordinances were passed requiring hatpin tips to be covered so as not to injure people accidentally.”

Truthfully, it wasn’t just suffragettes they were worried about, but ordinary women defending themselves. An injury in the abdomen with a hat pin might not even be noticed at first, but could cause deadly internal bleeding, and later, deadly peritonitis (inflammation, often infection, of the peritoneum, the thin tissue that lines the inner wall of the abdomen and covers most of the abdominal organs.)

The idea that women might have a *lethal* defense against rape rather terrified many men who had at least an inclination to rape.

In 1900, the Chicago Tribune published a tabulation of the different weapons used by women in the previous year’s assaults. Involved in 55 assaults, hatpins were ranked between thrown plates (73) and hair brushes and hand mirrors (48).

In 1898 in Chicago, a woman vindicated the reputation of the hatpin as a woman’s most efficient weapon, and drove two robbers from a Blue Island avenue (street)car, stabbing both multiple times, preventing them from robbing the conductor.

There are many examples of women thwarting robbers, muggers and rapists with them.

Movie star Marlene Dietrich even proposed to Douglas Fairbanks that by concocting an elaborate ruse to get near him, she could use a poisoned hat pin to assassinate Adolf Hitler. However, becoming familiar with the tight security that surrounded him, it became obvious she could not smuggle it close enough to him to use it.

That’s Interesting!

Looked around for more info and found this site:
http://www.americanhatpinsociety.com/tour/history.html
with this passage
((1908 An English judge, fearing that their pins could be used as weapons in his court, ordered a group of suffragettes on trial to remove their hatpins and hats, an insulting request. In 1909 a bill was introduced in the Arkansas legislature which copied an Illinois law limiting the length of pins to 9 inches or making ladies take out permits to possess longer ones. The pins were considered deadly weapons. As a result ladies had to cut their pins to the shorter length if they wanted to wear them in public.))

These are *my* underpants and they've been 100% effective in preventing rape so far.

There is nothing wrong about this idea except that the evil that is present in the world that makes such clothing seem necessary.

I went into this video skeptical, but I do think this is a fantastic idea. Most rapes in the US are a result of the female drinking too much and being too incapacitated to consent. (Screwing an unconscious person is wrong.) This would end a LOT of that.

It’s also great for the guy. If *she* had to use the combination to drop her drawers and let him in, how can he later be accused of rape?

Everything old is new again. A return to the Dark Ages is merely a re-cycling of history and a rediscovery of ancient technologies.

Hey, add one of those Burkas with the complete face mask to her wardrobe and the lady has the best anti-rape combination available to wear.

Add one other item, a large bell and clapper, and screams of ‘Unlclean! Unclean!” and the lady is not only as safe as possible, but she has identified herself to normal males as possibly someone with an obsessive psychosis that might not be normal.

Long ago—in the American west—women were armed to the teeth, Muff Guns, belly guns (put muzzel in mans belly and pull the trigger) knives, daggers, but the best weapon was the infernal hat pin—12 inch needle to be thrust into an eye, neck or groin! Rape was almost unknown. Why are we turning to chastity belts?
