For the third time in five years, Stanford stunned an Oregon team with legitimate national championship aspirations. For the second consecutive year, the Cardinal might have knocked the Ducks out of a Rose Bowl berth as well. And as a result, the Pac-12 won't be playing for the national championship for the seventh time in the BCS's final eight years.
Stanford's upset victory, coupled with Baylor's pasting of Oklahoma in a pair of Thursday night Top 10 showdowns, sent a shockwave through the top of the BCS even before the weekend. (They might have to cancel classes in Tallahassee and Columbus on Friday.)
This much is clear: Alabama and Florida State, atop the Week 11 BCS standings, will control their respective destinies. If either team wins out, it'll be playing in Pasadena on Jan. 6. Then, after that, it gets a bit messy.

They had 62 yards rushing for the game. Oregon didn’t beat themselves. Stanford dominated them. The final score is not indicative of the ass-kicking Stanford put on them.
FSU plays in a very weak ACC. The Clemson win was impressive, but Clemson is not a great team. The rest of the teams in the ACC are not very good. I think if Alabama and FSU meet in the BCS title game, Alabama’s defense will be the deciding factor. FSU has seen nothing like them this year. And never forget, if FSU had lost to Clemson, and only had that one loss on their record, they would be ranked where Clemson finds themselves........#8 or lower. There would be no talk at all of a national title game, like Stanford still has a shot at.....and Oregon if the chips fall just right.
Oh please, I saw the same game you did. Oregon made mistakes on offense in the first half which prevented them from scoring. The game ended with Stanford 26, Oregon 20. Obviously the score doesn’t really reflect the ineptitude of Oregon or the competence of Stanford. On paper, scoring wise, it was close. But looking forward to next week, who will win? Oregon or Utah? My opinion is that Utah is going to get clobbered.
What has to scare FSU if they end up meeting Alabama in the BCS Championship Game is that Alabama coach Nick Saban with one month’s preparation time will figure out a way to defeat FSU’s high-flying offense.
