When our readers tell us they want more of something in this case, stories about cats because who can ever get enough of those? we listen. And we want that same listening spirit to extend to whoever might be able to set up a service that brings kittens to your door for some playtime and cuddly cat times in every town across this great country we call home.
As I type these words and you read them, theres a magical event underway in Seattle, New York and San Francisco: To celebrate National Cat Day, car service Uber has teamed up with Cheezburger to bring kittens to the people.
Heres how I Can Haz UberKITTENS works, as explained on Ubers blog its essentially a service that will bring you a bunch of kitten friends for a limited amount of time:
1. Download the Uber app for iPhone or Android
2. Between 11am 4pm today, request the KITTENS! option via your app
3. If the furry friends are available, you and your buds will be enjoying 15 minutes of snuggles and cupcakes made by the famous Ace of Cakes, Duff Goldman and his team at Charm City Bakery.
The $20 is charged directly to your Uber account, and all of the proceeds will be donated to local shelters in each participating city, with the option to donate more as well as to adopt some of the kittens. That all depends on well those kittens snuggle, of course.
I dont know why we cant have this all of the time, everywhere, because its a win-win. A win for kittens because they get snuggled and a win for humans also because we get snuggled. Or at least batted at with tiny, adorable needle claws. So cute. Act fast though kittens are limited. KITTENS.
Anyone see the show “Flipping Las Vegas”?
Owner/Squatters are cat lovers. Then are forced to abandon property and chose to leave behind 17 cats.
So much for cat loving.
We accepted two 5 yr old blue-cream females that were going to be euthanized last spring. They were a bit traumatized - being taken from their original home (baby coming & they couldn’t deal with that & the cat), to the owner’s parent’s home where there was a cat-hating dog, and then to the Humane Society, where they were give two weeks to be adopted. But they are now part of the household (total of five cats) and very sweet and loving.
Good luck with your adoption!
You are the best! Hope it all works out.....kitty got lucky when you showed up for church....God works in mysterious ways.
Worth repeating! Down here in S. Florida, they are also used as FOOD. Many cultures down here raise them for food....I'VE SEEN IT.
He he he,
the mother cat knows what she’s doing then.

Apparently. She even talked me into bringing a sunlamp out for her babies. I am the walking talking true definition of 'p****-whipped'. :-)
An EXCELLENT reminder! Your local paper should NEVER accept ads for free kittens, especially those 'penny savers'. There are some SICK m-f'ers out there! (Cat lovers might want to give their local paper a 'heads up'!)
Slings...can you ping the list to posts #36 and 50? Outstanding advice for ALL kitten lovers!
True.
For all those creepers who live in the Central Valley, if you can, please donate to Cat House On the Kings, a non profit no kill shelter. This woman is a saint!
Indeed, she is! My wife would love to do the same, but alas...no rich relatives!
Good for you. I hope Peanuts and your husband will take to one another.
God bless you for taking that cat.
Why haven’t you had her spayed?
Big snake.
Sure he can. Cats fight with their hind legs and claws. He'll be fine.
Seriously.... on one hand, pizza.... on the other hand, kittens.... pizza or kittens, kittens or pizza....
KITTENS!!
(-and- pizza, what's another $20?)
