I would have said Haldol, but then again any drug can be a gun to the head.

I might very well be dead without klonopin.

Like many half assed articles, this one relates a litany of irresponsible prescriptions handed out by doctors who seldom bother to actually see and diagnose their patients... then comes to the conclusion that the problem here is the existence of the medication in question.

Set this writer up to help with implementing Obamacare. He has the competence level to fit right in.

I had no idea this class of drugs even existed.

Not sure I wanted to.

This is pure scare mongering. Klonopin is specifically used because its half life is much longer than say, Xanax. All benzo’s are addictive, to target the “Klonopin Boogeyman” is just gay.

IMO, the two most powerful psychoactive substances known to man are produced naturally in the body. I’m sure others have a different opinion regarding what are the most powerful substances. I choose these because they are so very potent and can have both good and bad effects.

Dimethyltryptamine - Made by the pineal gland.

Testosterone - Made by the testis and the adrenal gland.

These are not deadly substances, but their widespread and powerful effects are simply awesome, and sometimes terrifying.

Its a shame that pressure causes Pharm. to discontinue strong pain medication because idiots abuse them. I have nursed a lot on cancer floors, also on ortho with patients that have severe pain in the back or cancer of the spine and these patients NEED strong meds just to be able to function..Heard an oncologist give a speech about pain meds and the last thing he thinks about when prescrip. for his patients is that they might be addicted to them...he found exact the opposite, as the pain lessen so did their need for strong prescriptions...these people take medication for a different reason than addicts and those that use ...drugs for recreation....For those I feel no sympathy and the media agenda is responsible for good drugs being taken off the market.

Is there anyone that would like to go back to the medications of the 1800’s or for that matter even the early 20th century before vaccines, anti-biotics and all the childhood diseases before vaccines for killer diseases of children. When I was young, parents feared their children would contract polio and die or live life crippled or in an Iron lung...There are some people that just get hysterical about medications without real knowledge. I remember when Valium was made a big bugaboo but you will find it in every crash cart in the hospitals.

There are bad apples in medicine like any other profession, but to let them determine what is good or bad medication is nuts. Dr. Feel good is few and far between. One of the problems is that pharmacology and politicians greasing each others pockets is corruption. I think more so on the political side. Lets face it, politicians are easily corrupted. And government regulations are one of the reasons it takes so long and cost so much for new drugs to come on line...

Hydromorphone aka Dilaudid is hands down the worst drug I have ever had enter my system. It was through an IV as well and I thought for sure I was finished right there. Klonopin is a life saving prescription for tens of millions who have no other answers to lingering issues with addiction, brain injuries, seizures, emotional issues etc...the article is well researched but the drug use if you notice where people died “suddenly” were always when a cocktail was made of them.

Look...if I took klonopin, xanax, oxycontin, paxil, booze, coke, weed, diet pills, and sleeping pills on top of it....yeah...I would say I am increasing my odds of never waking up.

Valium became infamous as "mother's little helper,

I thought Miltown was "Mother's Little Helper".

I do not have an addictve personality, but klonopin was the absolute worst drug to withdraw from. I have many back problems, and no muscle relaxers were working so Dr. put me on klonopin to try to relax me.

I never felt a high from it, rather I seemed to be in a constant fog. Withdrawal caused tremors, paranoia, fear of leaving my house, brain zaps, nausea, eye pain so bad I had to lay with ice packs on my eyes for weeks. These are just a few I remember!

I think the biggest problem is that Drs don't tell you the consequences of these types of meds. They also write prescriptions for them like candy! Last time my back acted up, I suffered in horrible pain for months rather than take any heavy pain meds or benzos.

"...Potassium chloride, which is used to trigger cardiac arrest and death in the 38 states of the U.S. that enforce the death penalty is also pretty deadly..."

Potassium chloride is the main ingredient in "No-Salt" and "Nu-Salt" products. (Silicone dioxide— ;) —is another).
