I miss Ronald Reagan.

I miss having a president that loves this country.

I miss having a president who is OF this country!

I miss the optimism he inspired, for us and for the world.

I miss his humbleness and his humor.

I miss his leadership, and his class.

I missed Reagan for many years. Not as much lately, because it has been somewhat dwarfed by the broader picture of missing the country I knew, loved and plead allegiance to.

America has become such an ugly, depraved cesspool... full of socialism, faggotry, dopeheads, and brimming with a corrupt, third-world style of culture and governance. It really makes me want to vomit, when I look at the depths the country has plunged. Just today, with the story of the fag-marriage at the chapel right there at West Point... damn. America has basically embraced evil, and it truly makes me question why I would have any interest left in the preservation of the republic.

I met him once in a hotel lobby in Chicago when he was governor of California. I live in a town that he spent some time in and mentioned it to him. He remembered the town in very great detail (you remember how the media portrayed him as a dunce) and put me at ease while we had a nice chat. He had real class.

I never met Reagan, my grandfather knew him in Des Moines Iowa, when Dutch was a sports announcer for WHO radio. The would often eat lunch at the same diner. Once when Reagan traveled to California to cover a Cubs baseball game he sent Grandad a postcard, informing him of a screentest that a studio had scheduled for him. The rest is history.

Reagan’s line about a thousand years of darkness has begun!

Long story made short: My Dad and Ronald Reagan were friends from 1941 until my Dad died in 1974. I met RR several times.

Compare any of President Reagan's speeches with those of the dictator wannabe. There is no comparison.

Now and then I play a You Tube of President Reagan's address to the nation following the Challenger tragedy. A nation in shock, grief and turmoil could find comfort and courage in that speech. President Reagan showed in just that one speech what true leadership is all about.

Unlike the current occupant of the White House and his campaign speech after Sandy Hook. Instead of comfort, he talked politics and blame. The tragedy of Sandy Hook was bad enough, but he made it worse by his relentless narcissism. Unbelievable how low this country has sunk with him at the helm.

Still seems unbelievable that he was actually the governor of California, doesn't it? Let's hope we see those kinds of days again.
