A quarter of a million dollars for a revamped old Mustang? No wonder I’ve never heard of it.

I may be building a super 67 Camaro, already have an original. But I could build it for less than $110k retail.

Take the front end from a ‘69 Camaro, the taillights from a Challenger and slap them onto a ‘68 Mustang, and there you go, a derivative, cobbled up mess from an aesthetic standpoint. You’d think for the price there might be something more going on. And the name, Equus Bass? Is it named after a horse and a fish?

This is by far the best combo car I have seen.

It can stop just as fast as it goes thanks to ceramic Brembo brakes at all four corners, and if things get really hairy, ABS, stability control and traction control keep the rubber side down. Oh, and air conditioning, GPS, Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control are all standard.
Half of what retro-muscle car fans like is fewer layers between you and the car. My '66 Dodge Dart had the puny 225 in it, but I could change the fuel pump in 15 minutes, the starter in 20, and the water pump in under an hour. Despite wretched suspension and brakes by modern standards, you KNEW when something was going to go, and you knew what the car was up to. Putting all of those toys in a muscle car kinda undermines some of the charm. Nothing against toys, but I'd rather have them in a full size luxury automobile, not a muscle car or even a pedestrian old driveabout like my Dart.

With a $253,000 price tag, the Equus Bass 770 may be in the same territory as the Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C, but it makes those look almost like plebeian family cars. Thanks, but for my quarter million, I'll take the Ferrari.

yeah...right...a mustang with a 71 Road Runner front end and a 69 charger rear end....why not just buy a REAL Mopar muscle car instead of dressing up a pig of a Ford.

Off topic question for the group:
I suspect that most here have seen "Overhaulin" and likely are regular fans of the show. When a person goes on a quiz show, like "The Price is Right" and wins, the get a 1099 from the show for the value of the prizes. Do the owners of the cars that are overhauled also get one? I mean, the value of some of those make-overs has to be will over $100k...that's a pretty steep tax bill for some of these folks to handle.

My favorite car of the era was the Chevelle Malibu SS 396. I never had one, nor could I afford it, but I spent a lot of time in French class daydreaming about it.

The commercial at the driving.ca site has to be the stupidest ad of all time. A cop pulls over a guy driving a hot Mustang look-alike. Cop looks in trunk and under hood. Gorgeous girl-friend in passenger seat plays with some mysterious high-tech toy. Copy cuffs guy, steals car, drives like a maniac through disgusting and unappealing bombed-out city streets of Detroit, and winds up at airport with private jets. Cop climbs stairs of jet while waiting for girl to join him. She gets out of car, displays totally killer bod in micro-mini dress, but she gets into driver’s seat and takes off. Cop is left on stairs of plane, bewildered that his plan to steal car and kidnap girl has failed. All backed up with evil sounding electronic soundtrack.
They may have a creative engineering team, but their marketing team is the worst ever.
The best I could say is it’s a radical departure from the standard car vid fare of gorgeous auto blasting down deserted mountain and seashore roads with people smiling and having a great time. But it is massively depressing. Yuck.

Variations on the theme are cool, and had been the cornerstone of modifying Harley's like a canvas can have many types of art painted on it.
New Unibody tubs can make this literally a new car and a clone. But when does NIOSH, EPA, and all the alphabet soup groups step in and take away all their fun? They have done it with Harley's I think in California as well as busting the Late Boyd Coddington's chops about something a little more critical, i.e. serial /data plates etc.
The question begs when will the fundamental transformers fubar this too, since having fun with gasoline is probably verboten as we move to towards their Progressive Utopian "Paradise"...
