I switched to a double-edge razor and will never go back to the crappy newer models.

There are many styles out there but this is what I bought after much research:

The blades are inexpensive and VERY high quality. The blades in the expensive cartriges are like foil.

The Feather blades are about 4 bucks for a 10 pack (quick math, about 40 cents a week IF you switch out blades weekly). I’ve used the Merkur blades too and both are excellent.

I have that same razor handle and love it. I had been buying the Wilkinson Sword blades at Walmart for $1.75/10, but they stopped carrying them. At least Fred Meyer has “Kroger” branded blades, but they are about a dollar more per 10 pack. Still a cheap shave at one blade a week.

I’ve found the glycerin shaving soap lathers up really nice, too.

I used to hold the razor upside down, turn the opener and pretend it was the belly of a B-17;-)

That’s the exact same one that I use.

My son has the DE razor that screws open from the bottom with wings.
