"The trouble, of course, is that as razor cartridges have become more and more sophisticated, they've become more and more expensive. An eight-pack of cartridges can cost $25 or $30.

In response to this, several companies have popped up offering less expensive options online...." "I started using my Harry's razor in mid-August, and I could not believe how much closer a shave I got with blades than I'd been getting ..."

No, will give it a try.....I have had the fascia removed from both feet so I walk funny. Callouses are quarter size and can get really thick. The dremmel with the sander looks painful but ok as long as you are careful. Looks like I am sanding wood. dust everywhere so I do it outside. Will try the Vicks. Thanks for tip.

I would think that they could make them not as sharp.

I did an experiment years ago because I knew the rust was dulling the blades, I put vegetable oil in a coffee mug and sat it on my bathroom sink and after I finished shaving I patted the razor dry and put it in the mug of oil til the next use. Blades stayed very sharp and last a long time, was a smoother shave too.

I don’t have that much facial hair (just enough to look white trash) so I just use a cordless.

For the last several years (Since I retired) I usually just run the barber clippers over my face twice a week. Less skin irritation and no blades to buy. Yes, I always look like I just got out of prison but, hey...

Have you considered shaving every other day?

I skip days as my face just can’t take a daily assault from a razor .

Besides a great shave, its is a real confidence builder, if you dont bleed out first.

It takes a little practice, just like anything worthwhile.

Hi Folks,

I've tried all the rest, but here is the best:

Gillette Mach3.

I am talking about the original version (circa 1998). Not the Mach3 Sensitive, not the Mach3 Turbo, not the Mach3 Power, etc...

The Mach3 gets the job done with no-muss and no-fuss.

Simple.

You're welcome.

I got my son a DE blade and some good shaving soaps and he swears by them.

The price is right too.

My son has the DE razor that screws open from the bottom with wings.

” I had been buying the Wilkinson Sword blades at Walmart for $1.75/10, but they stopped carrying them. “

I heard of a lady that swallowed a Wilkinson Sword razor blade. She gave herself a tonsillectomy, hysterectomy, an appendectomy, gave her husband a vasectomy, cut the finger of a casual friend and still got seven good shaves.

“Just so everyone knows, the reason to use badger bristle brushes is because they hold the heat better than anything else”

Actually it’s because they hold water better than anything else. More water means more lather and more passes on a single brush load of soap/cream.

I recall those little slots in the back of the medicine cabinet....to dispose of those blades. Can you imagine how many millions of those blades are lurking in the walls of old homes? This could be the next national emergency Hussein needs to focus on. We need a czar of spent blades.

-— I have had a beard over 30 years. It has no skin irritation or bleeding from those sharp objects. My skin cancer risk is greatly reduced. Sunburn is reduced. -—

I like having a permanent 3-day-growth beard for those reasons. My face gets itchy if I let it grow much longer.

Occasionally I will have to shave for a job interview, and my skin is smooth as silk, unlike when I shaved daily.
