It was reported today by MSNBC that President Obama was unaware that he had ever said to anyone the words If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it. As is commonly known, the details of policies put in place by various departments of the Administration are considered beneath the purview of the office of the presidency. The President is above all that and, as Chris Matthews points out, he can hardly be expected to remember such minutiae such as who gave the order to stand down at Benghazi, which is thousands of miles away, or who ordered the IRS to harass certain Tea Party members, let alone members of other terrorist groups, or even what was happening in Fast & Furious down in Mexico. Thats somebody elses country, said Matthews, and the President just wasnt personally aware. Besides, he was on the golf course at the time . . . every time. Moreover, we have his word for it, along with his adorably smudged and erased golf game scorecards which will, no doubt, make their way into his presidential library someday. There were only 4,673 events between 2008 and 2012 where he uttered this healthcare plan remark, and his failure to remember them is completely understandable in light of the fact, as Rachel Maddow points out, that he did not use precisely the same words at 378 of those events, but some variation thereof. So, there was some confusion in his mind, and that is completely understandable. Hes a busy man. It is also true that he was reading from texts prepared by White House aides and, therefore, can hardly be held responsible for them. His Secretary of HHS, Kathleen Sebelius, having recently returned from a funeral in Kansas, where a house tragically fell on her sister, was at a loss to explain the Presidents previous words, but suggested that they were glitches taken out of context and mis-characterized. He could hardly have known that 15 million people would lose their health insurance and can hardly be held responsible, any more than Ms. Sebelius can be held responsible for her underlings who managed the recently troubled website at the heart of the Unaffordable Care Act. Au contaire! And all things being equal, what is known for certain is that the president simply was not made aware of the trouble at HHS, much less his of own words about healthcare, which were uttered in the rush and confusion of the 2012 campaign which was in effect in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. But, in the meantime, he has invited all Republicans to the White House in a show of bipartisanship. Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina announced that he would not be able to attend.
Are you sure that sarc tag should be there? Seems like something that Squealer (Carney) would come out an say.
I’m sure it was Bush that said that, not obama. </sarc>
Darn! I forgot to put Carney in there! :-)
The first time he heard about that was last night on Fox News like the rest of us!
That line was killer!
How can you tell that Obama’s lying? He immediately follows all of his made up ‘facts’ with the statement: “You can’t make this stuff up!”
Hey, are you going to site obamaCare?
Be sure to note, Obama’s unaware.
If you’re going to site obamaCare,
You’re gonna meet some pissed off people there.
For those who come to site obamaCare
Winter time will be a cluster there.
On the pages of site obamaCare
Pissed off people hearing Obama’s unaware.
All across the nation, such a strange vibration
Money in motion...
There’s an administration with no explanation
But money in motion, money in motion
For those who come to site obamaCare
Be sure to know Obama’s unaware
All those who lose on site obamaCare
Always remember, Obama’s unaware.
Hope Mr. Semmens doesn’t get mad that you came up with such a great headline . . .
Has anybody told Obama he’s the president?
Ha ha...good one!
Obama repeatedly misspoke; He intended to say “If I like your health plan you can keep it.” (sarc)
If you believe this lying POS I have ocean front property in the heart of Death Valley I will sell you for a very high price.
He was unaware he’d ever said it until it was reported on the news.
LOL!!! Good one!
But Dorothy is fine; she still has health coverage. Toto too!
Very good!!!! I particularly like the “money in motion” line. One needs to “follow the money” with this administration. There are dozens of examples of major money mysteriously disappearing.
