Sometimes. Especially in the winter time. That’s when I use that arcaic thing known as an oven. Sometimes it’s even a dutch oven.LOL

Hope so. Haven’t had more than a scratchy throat for about 5 years, so I guess I was overdue. Hoping it will be of short duration.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s true. Butter/sugar...unbeatable combo!

In fact that is what mom would use as icing. Butter and some powdered sugar....or butter and some honey. The butter and honey was MY favorite!

Alas, haven’t had the cooked shredded wheat in years. Can’t afford it! It would blow my calorie count and other counts to smithereens!

At Granny’s we used to take sorghum molasses and combine it with a bit of butter, and layer it on homemade bread slices and wash it down with fresh milk. It was great.

I don’t have that much anymore either. Too much carbs and fat.

LOL! Exactly! Carbs and fats have nailed me too, so I try to eat sensibly. Not always successfully, but that is what I strive for.

Here’s one I love!
It’s a great winter supper, and perfect for lunches and~or freezer.

I use more chicken, and a full cup of Franks reg sauce. I omit the blue cheese, which I substitute with extra cheddar. I also omit the bread crumbs. Your mileage may vary.

http://www.tabasco.com/tabasco-recipes/recipe/4337/buffalo-chicken-mac-and-cheese/

Ingredients

1 pound dried elbow macaroni
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
3 cups whole milk
6 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 1 1/2 cups)
6 ounces shredded mild Cheddar cheese (about 1 1/2 cups)
5 ounces crumbled blue cheese (about 1 1/4 cups)
1/4 cup TABASCO® brand Buffalo Style Hot Sauce
12 ounces cooked chicken, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 1/2 cups Panko bread crumbs

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook macaroni to al dente according to package instructions and drain.

Meanwhile, melt butter in a large heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper and cook 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thickened and bubbly, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to low and stir in cheeses until melted. Add TABASCO® Buffalo Style Sauce, chicken, green onion, macaroni and additional salt and pepper to taste; mix well.

Spoon into an ungreased 2-quart casserole dish and top with bread crumbs. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until heated to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Makes 8 servings.

Thank you! It’s getting cool here and I’m ready to bake!

You sound like me. I'm fixing to bake some banana muffins this morning. This week I baked cupcakes, peanut butter bars, and cookies.

It's not an internal clock. It's that I love being in a warm kitchen when the weather gets cooler, and my gas oven keeps it nice and toasty in at least one room of the house.

Banana Muffins (makes 12 muffins)

3 or 4 Large bananas, mashed (the more bananas the moister, so I use 4)

1/2 cup white sugar (original recipe calls for 1 cup, but I don’t like them too sweet)

1 slightly beaten egg

1/3 cup melted margarine or butter

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups flour

Mix the mashed banana, sugar, egg and margarine together. Set aside. In a separate bowl, mix together baking soda, baking powder, salt and flour. Mix wet and dry ingredients all together! Pour into greased muffin tins, and bake in 350 degrees F oven for approximately 20 minutes. Enjoy!

**I usually double the recipe, and add vanilla, sliced almonds, and soaked craisins, then sprinkle some sliced almonds on top before I put them in the oven.**

That Macaroni Stuff

1 Package of pasta (it does not matter what type, use what you got.)

Cheese sauce (About a half block of Velveeta, a splash of milk)

Package of frozen broccoli(16 oz)

Salsa

Sour Cream

Cooked chicken, about a cup more or less

Either microwave the broccoli or heat it up in your pan on the store. Dump in colander to drain

Cook pasta according to directions on package, dump in colander to drain(yes on top of the broccoli is fine if there is room)

Put Velveeta (rough cubed) and splash of milk in still hot pot

heat on low, stirring until smooth

Add pasta and broccoli back into pot,(leave the heat on low) stir to mix

Add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup salsa and cooked chicken.

Mix and heat until nicely combined.

Remove from heat

Add about two tablespoons sour cream.

Blend and serve.

Takes about 20 minutes to make.

Don't like cheese sauce? Use a can of cream of mushroom soup.
