A Romanian man who has admitted stealing masterpieces by Gauguin, Monet and Picasso, wants to pin the blame on the Dutch museum for failing to protect the works, his lawyer said Tuesday.
Radu Dogaru is among six Romanians on trial for the spectacular three-minute heist from the Kunthal museum in Rotterdam in October 2012 which stunned the art world.
Despite their value, none of the paintings was equipped with an alarm, Dutch authorities have said.

Given the value of the art works and lack of adequate security, I would have to agree........He’s still guilty tho.
I tend to agree.
You don’t keep art pieces, which are worth millions of dollars, in easy reach of somebody.
You’d also think that the art museum would be inclined to put them in glass cages just so that they stay preserved.

I think he does make a good point. Why make such valuable pieces of art so easy to steal?
All six of them should be executed, and their severed heads mounted on spikes installed above the museum’s entrance.
And alarms should only be installed to prevent the removal of the heads.
That should take care of the problem.
