Typical world in 2013...

The more dominant team beat up on the challenged team...and it's the more powerful's team fault for being too good...

If you can't play the game, then don't take the field...

I don’t know if Texas has class football, but it seems to me that Aledo HS needs to play up a class or two.

As long as they aren’t shooting steroids, and paying players with cash, cars and girls, then what’s the problem? And if they are, then the boys are ready for playing in the SEC.

You pretty much have to run up and down the field completely unimpeded for an hour to score 91 points. Maybe the winning team doesn't have a second and third string to put in.

Either way it reflects pretty poorly on the other coach - seems like his team just rolled over.

A lawsuit for this...what a wussified society we have become. Have been on BOTH sides of butt whipping but I didn’t complain about it!

when i was in boy scouts, my patrol won every competition the troop had, and won a blue ribbon in the regional camporee. the leaders broke us up. our troop would win no more regional blue ribbons, and we all were quite miffed. and the crybabies still cried.

>>>The dad of a player on the team that was blown out, Western Hills High School, claims Buchanan encouraged his players to bully their opponents by running up the score. <<<

The fact that is was a “dad” making this ridiculous “bullying” complaint, is a hundred times worse than if it were a mom (still stupid, but more understandable given maternal instincts and the gender gap).

As I see it, the poor football player has “two moms” and no real dad. Having such a simpering wuss for a “father” must be a million times more humiliating than losing 91-0.

No. If you don’t want a team to beat you 91-0, then don’t suck.

Maybe the coach could have taken out the third string and put in the cheerleaders in the second half.

Losing in a mismatched football game is motivation to work harder you improve your game. It is an opportunity to learn a lesson that will serve the players on the losing team for the rest of their lives.
Be prepared or be embarrassed.

The losing coach could have forfeited at anytime. But quitting doesn’t build character. In life you learn more from losing than from winning. Mommy needs to shut up and let her boy be a man.

Just for the record, the coach for Aledo pulled his starters after only 21 plays! Also, Aledo is undefeated and has scored 60+ in several of those games!

He put in his second and third stringers for the remainder of the game! And they STILL put up 91 points.

Now the man who filed the complaint said that he would not have filed this complaint if he had known how soon the Aledo team had went to their 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Uh, ASK! You dumbass!

Instead of asking and trying to see if the other coach actually “ran up the score,” you got butt-hurt over your inability to explain to your kid that sometimes you will lose and sometimes you will lose BIG! Get up and try harder next time - PERIOD!

In my senior year in high school we won the Homecoming football game with a score of 104-6. The coach was sending in all his players but the crowd was hyped and toward the end the crowd was screaming to go for 100. The other team was, of course, thoroughly demoralized. For a cap someone slashed the team bus tires. It actually was not something for which we were proud once the Homecoming high wore off but it was what it was. The school was in the same division as ours, from a larger city. It should have been better.

A few months later the basketball team from this losing high school slaughtered our team, something like 60-18. It was sweet revenge for them. The second time we met in basketball competition, the game was very close and I can’t recall which team won.

Our coach told us that if we cannot stop them from running all over us then we deserve to get what we get. Step up and be men.

We had a high-school football game here recently where the superior team got out to a crushing halftime lead, so they cut the last 2 quarters to one minute apiece.

I would not have been happy about that if I had been a player. Even on the losing team. You bust your tail in practice all week, you sure want your game time.

Other Western Hill scores this season (all losses) ...
61-7
62-10
63-0
9-7
35-7
49-30

Yeah ... they’re a horrible team. Ranked well behind the 1,000 mark in the state. They played a top 20 team ... what do they expect?

Not a good situation but not the coach’s problem. I think I read that the losing team was losing big all year and the winning team is winning big all year. There are lessons that are learned when you get whipped, but not when you’re consistently whipped. Winning big like this probably means that team has a “Program” like De LaSalle in California. You have to adjust and start your own program, or you’re going to get whipped for years.

Funny thing is, on the flip side, team state and regional rankings are based on "strength of schedule" and points for/points against ratios. So, if they had not won by enough, it hurts their ranking. Rankings can matter for playoff tiebreakers.

So flip this thing around: an undefeated team loses a playoff slot tiebreaker with another undefeated team because of the PF/PA ratio. Do the parents then brag about how they didn't bully the other teams, or do they bitch about how they were robbed in the playoffs?

In SoCal HS baseball there is a “mercy” rule that if a team is getting blown out after five innings, game over. The competition is on to be sure, but it sometimes is merciful to those teams with lesser talent, or perhaps not coached to that level of play.
