Why Carry a Gun? 7 Objections Destroyed.

"The question is constantly asked: Why do you want to carry a gun? Here are Massad Ayoob’s 7 proven answers vindicating concealed carry.

1. “Why do you carry a gun?”

Kathy Jackson said it best on her website (www.corneredcat.com): “I carry a gun because I can’t carry a policeman.”

2. “But aren’t you worried that if more people carry guns, more arguments will escalate into people being shot and killed?”

No. Responsible gun owners are too practical to worry about things that don’t happen. ......."

I really campaign that those who carry guns should also carry a quick draw sheath knife as well. Think of your gun and knife as a matched set, that are superbly complementary to each other.

At various times during the day, imagine your own, personal Tueller Drill distance. For example, you are in a busy grocery store shopping. Suddenly, some disheveled guy gives out a scream and goes charging at you. At first you are puzzled, wondering WTF? Then you wonder, is he charging at me? Maybe a distracting moment of wondering *why* he is charging at you. Then, golly gee, it might be good for me to draw my gun. But then another moment’s hesitation...gosh, is it appropriate to draw my gun in a crowded grocery store?

All the time he is closing on you. How far away does he have to be before you could draw and fire two rounds at him? That is, if you are willing to fire with the distinct possibility that it isn’t what it appears.

Compare this to quickly pulling your sheath knife, that can just as easily be put back in its sheath, with no one the wiser. Nothing bad happens unless disheveled guy runs smack dab into your knife, at point blank range.

I’m a large man. I’ve weight trained, martial arts trained, and was a Marine for six years.

I can probably dismantle most people with my bare hands.

I carry a gun.

Just because I can do something, doesn’t mean that is the BEST way to do spmething.

Buy an MGB.

You’ll catch on with the extinguisher in the car thing......sooner or later. Be sure to get one rate for electrical, petroleum and metal fires.

Just sayin........

I phrase it as “the first rule of self defense is: don’t be there.”
Don’t go where trouble is likely. If trouble happens, get away. If fists, knives, or bullets are going to be in your space, vacate that space.

Only to a liberal is there so much gun violence that we should ban guns...but if you want a firearm to protect yourself from said violence you are just being paranoid.

Yep......that one.

Get a 1976 to 1980 model. Three size systems on the hardware, SAE, British Standard/Whitworth, and Metric.

MGB stands for Morris Garage, model B. Never buy a car with Garage as part of the name!
