Since there are no more living slaves, except for that Democrat Socialist Congress-whatever Sheila Jackson Lee, there are no more “African-Americans”. They are either Americans, or not.
in terms of race the proper term is negroid....
and for the record the species is homo sapien

I’ve just written a novel and a major character is a black man in a city and time when there are almost no blacks. The other characters react as they probably would given the circumstances. This is a major plot driver. My first reader was horrified as their reactions weren’t politically correct. I’m actually concerned now to see how the other reviewers react. It would be nearly impossible to rewrite either the reactions, which are critical to the plot, or to change the character to something more politically acceptable. (What would that be?)

Simply using a word , a word that has a specific meaning , in conversation shouldn’t be a reason to fire anyone... In 10 years we’ll have boatloads of people fired for using the word “black” when someone gets upset and the “offended” party retrieves their old internet posts just because black people will have a new word du jur that they like to call themselves.. and the old word is now offensive..
