I got all 16 rows of 8 varieties of Garlic planted yesterday and used the strawberry cages to keep the Quail from scratching in the rice hulls and dislocating the seed cloves. The rows are 12 feet long and I figure that should yield a harvest of 1225 bulbs starting next May. It makes a great gift for family and friends…

I use Flickr for photo storage and they now format the HTML and I just copy their code and paste it in the reply box. I still have to use some additional html for paragraph break...

Seriously, and totally impressed with your gardening. did you make those cages?

That looks great! So, you plant them about 6” apart in the rows?

I’m hoping mine don’t rot before they sprout.

I like those cages. They look easy to drape with plastic in the spring or fall, in case of frost, too.

Wow, extraordinarily cool. You and your son should go in the business of building these. Of course, the shipping might be a bit prohibitive, but I'd love a couple. Gorgeous property too; pretty, pretty flowers. I'm so thrilled to see everyone's pictures' keep 'em coming... :)

Are the rice hulls put down as a mulch? Should I be putting something down on top of the garlic I'll be planting and the walking onions I've planted? Would straw be okay?
