The government shutdown, by one estimate, sucked $24 billion out of the American economy in just two weeks. How about we send the bill to the Tea Party?
According to Time magazine, the shutdown cost:
About $3.1 billion in lost government services, according to the research firm HIS.
$152 million per day in lost travel spending, according to the U.S. Travel Association.
$76 million per day lost because of National Parks being shut down, according to the National Park Service.
$217 million per day in lost federal and contractor wages in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area alone

Yes, among many struggles that Andy is probably dealing with....
A rather dismal combination of both stupidity and mendacity, although not necessarily in that order nor in equal proportions.
It is a matter of considerable wonder how deeply the media campaign against the largely fictive Tea Party has sunk into the lumpenproletariat, and here I include media celebrities. So many of these live in their own little mental Fantasyland that anyone outside it is no longer merely a normal, sane person, but a mortal political enemy. Shared illusions can be like that.
Funny thing, The “Clean CR” contained an additional 2.9 Billion dollar expenditure for a project in Kentucky. A bill Mitch McConnell helped write.
I’d suggest you send a Pay on demand letter to him. When you recoup that money, call me!
Only in Washingtonland does it cost money not to do something!!!
The Tea Party is the Tea Party because they ALREADY pay all the bills.
LOL!
“Hold that stupid look Joe, let me get out my iPhone..”
And the resolution that they love so much? Well, here is some quick math:
-Current federal revenue is $2.4T a year / 12 months = $200B per month
-$1T in increase for the debt ceiling and it gets us through January (actually Feb 7). That means in October, November, December and January Fedzilla is planning to spend $250B per month more than they get in revenue. ($1T debt / 4 mos = $250B)
-$200B + $250B = $450B as the ADMITTED planning for spending per month between now and Feb 7th
-$450B * 12 months = $5.4T is the annualized rate of that spending plan.
In other words they are spending at a rate that, if annualized, would be a 35% spending increase over the worst budget of $4.0T!
According to the author of this crap sandwich, we should be at full employment and we should be getting double digit growth! Afterall, the more the gov’t steals and redistributes, the better the economy!
Yes, yes it does.

Who the hell is Andrew Heller?
You should find a new supplier for whatever the dolt sells. I do it whenever possible and I tell them why! I’m small time tho, I only buy $135M worth of goods a year in NA and then lead/advise teams in Asia, India, Europe and Brazil.....
Send your medical bills to any ahole actor in Hollywood.
This dumb ass owes me and mine for shackling us to Obamacare. he can go Fuc* himself
He works for a major supplier of level controls, pressure gages, etc. I'm not sure how management at his company thinks, so it'd be a shame to drop them over one employee.
What has been explicitly shown is that tax money is being used for the purpose of simply giving money to some people; not that the money is necessary to keep needs satisfied. Otherwise the ‘government’ would just simply bring back all the workers to just keep doing what they had been doing with or without societal benefits.
How much economic destruction, worldwide, is being caused by QE, and the US Treasury bond, and $17.5 T in debt? (It went up $329B in one day!)
Accurate. Although you will have people argue with you.
Every dollar taken out of the private sector is a drain. It may be a necessary drain but it is still a drain.
Most people have no problems with the necessary drains because they feel it worth it. The problem is that now days we have so many unnecessary drains.
I flipped out last night over a guest on Megan Kelly's show the other day. She was a government contractor and she was suffering terribly because of the slim-down. I felt a bit sorry for her until I learned that her company was the tub o morons that wrote regulations for the EPA.
Then I shouted that her company should be put out of business. I don't think I added that it should be burned to the ground and the ground sowed with salt but I did think it.
Wait, let me get my check book. /sarc
What the hell? Who lost what money? Sounds like the taxpayer saved a chunk of change on most of these.
How about we send the bill to Mr. Obama?Same thing happened in the 1980s when the Congress was run by Tip ONeil and the Democrats, and the Senate and presidency were held by Republicans. Yet in that instance, it was Reagans shutdown.
Shoe on the other foot, and it isnt Obamas shutdown, it is the TEA Party shutdown. How does that work?
