My county registers as 6% usage, which doesn't seem too bad.
But then there's this: "That proportion has grown 309 percent since 2000."

Yikes...

65,125 people are in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in your county.

About 18 percent of people in your county are in the program.

That proportion has grown 170 percent since 2000.

The participants received $96,505,000 in benefits.

That’s $1,663 per person per year.

Or $139 per person per month.

I work/live in a blue state/county/city so mine didn’t surprise me one iota as this sh*thole city is full of Buttcrack odumbo voters.

Slate has my county at 27 percent, and my math, using 2012 population figures puts it at 28 percent, and they are all standing in line at Walmart.

Allegheny County, PA: 157,000 + or 12% of the population, a 91% increase.

Somehow, I think the total may be more.

Is there a link to the site so we don’t have to give Salon hits?

There’s foodstamp recipients who fall into the category of people who need help, trough no fault of their own.

Then there’s the black high rollers, obama’s people, the usually 400-pound and larger lardballs.

Guess which ones will be cut?

There are 6,494 people on SNAP in my county, which is 18%. I’m actually surprised it is not higher. It is a 79% increase since 2000, but it is very noticeable that the biggest increases have occurred since 2008, until then it was pretty steady at about 8%-10%.

You can just as easy see all the nifty food-stamp population standing in the cash register line at any Wal-mart.
