We have the money to NOT default. The default would be HIS choice to try and bring pain on the American people.
One must remember that Obama is the one who has total control over whether or not the bills and interest on our debt get paid. The House GOP cannot actually stop him from doing exactly that. Repeat that as often as possible until the public understands.
No, it just means that our next payment that’s due on 11/15 will still be due on 11/15. And Jack Lew’s arbitrary date will have been shown to be the political sham that it always was.

I have a different take. I’ve never seen this sort of brinksmanship “crisis” get solved before the 11th hour (and the 59th minute). It’s all part of the “art of the deal”. Both sides think that whatever deal they can get now, they can get a better one if they wait. I’ve always seen it work this way. My prediction is that it will go down to the wire and then they’ll breathlessly announce that a miraculous way has been found to crawl back from the abyss.
Hopefully it ends with some Polonium.
