Unless youve been bamboozled by the frantic fictions of the right wing, you know that the Affordable Care Act, familiarly known as Obamacare, has begun to accomplish its first goal: enrolling millions of uninsured Americans, many of whom have been living one medical emergency away from the poorhouse. You realize those computer failures that have hampered sign-ups in the early days to the smug delight of the critics confirm that there is enormous popular demand. You have probably figured out that the real mission of the Republican extortionists and their big-money backers was to scuttle the law before most Americans recognized it as a godsend and rendered it politically untouchable.
What you may not know is that the Affordable Care Act is also beginning, with little fanfare, to accomplish its second great goal: to promote reforms to our overpriced, underperforming health care system. Irony of ironies, the people who ought to be most vigorously applauding this success story are Republicans, because it is being done not by government decree but almost entirely with market incentives.

Holy crap. This DNC propagandist needs to be institutionalized... immediately.
No “Barf Alert” required. Just citing “The NY Times” is sufficient.
“to promote reforms to our overpriced, underperforming health care system. ... not by government decree but almost entirely with market incentives”
He makes four assertions none of which is correct. Not overpriced, not underperforming, not market incentives, entirely by govt. decree. How can one attain the personal success of working at the NYT but be so numb as to not know the sky is blue?
So, what’s the big deal anyway? Didn’t king hussein proclaim that it would be free? So, why all the fuss about money if it’s free? Oooooppppppssss! I guess somebody got caught telling a little bit of a tall tail. I’m sure this reporter is right. I thought I saw thousands of folks lined up to do the hard copy sign up the other day. NOT!
I agree...Obamacare will standardize healthcare across the board to be overpriced and underperforming for everyone. That way it’s will be equally bad for everyone.
Has begung to accomplish? A literal handful of people here, a couple dozen there? That is on its way to millions? At this rate most of those millions will in fact be dead of natural causes before signing up. And this is the initial rush - rates will taper off rapidly.
Where is the Barf Alert?
That may be true, but just to be safe:
Suggestion to the dude in Mexico who owns the NY Times. Here is the opportunity to save millions of dollars. Drop everyone at the Times from the insurance policy your company offers.
They will have to go on Obamacare or if I know the little commiecrats they will make a big stink about why they aren’t exempt.
LOL. I'm willing to deal with whatever consequences obamacare should bring to me personally just to see the liberals suffer the fallout. Best case scenario would be for the NY Times to send their employees over to the "exchange"
“I agree...Obamacare will standardize healthcare across the board to be overpriced and underperforming for everyone. That way its will be equally bad for everyone.
Not quite everyone. The U.S. Politburo and their rich buddies will always have access to advanced medical care not available to the peasants.
Q TO AUTHOR:
with this ‘affordable care’, who expects the Ocare enrollee to pay their deductibles? hospitals will bill out, expect payment, and 2 years later be closed for universal non-pay. (”I thought it was free!”)((I can’t pay that! I have to pay my cell phone bill!”)
Who will they bill? Which of several hundred names at the same address will open the envelope?
I can hardly wait.
>>> .... enrolling millions of uninsured Americans .....
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!
IF that is the case, you would have heard it 24/7.
Only a socialist would view government mandated compliance as "market incentives".
