In my area it’s possible to buy ethanol free gas at certain stations that sell it. It costs a bit more but certainly is worth it. I run all my yard machines with it. Call/ask around your area. Try asking at a small engine shop if they know of any stations selling pure gas.

You base this rant on Sam’s club? Why not go to a real gas station.

You can find it. Most premium gas 93 octane, will be free of ethanol. That works fine in the motorcycle. Not so economic in the truck.

You’re in Iowa and you question ethanol? Enjoy the reeducation camp.

89 and 93 doesn’t have ethanol or so I’m told by a small engine repair shop.

Family in Omaha noticed same thing. Overnight, the station that used to have real gas stopped selling it. We were in IA end if last month and didn’t have any trouble finding real gas. Casey’s stores and Quiktrip had it. However, I think something has happened to put more pressure on gas stations to stop selling real gas; just carry that ethanol crap.

Contact Grassley (Sen from Archer Daniels Midland) and give him an earful. He is pushing for greater use of ethanol.

US Navy Vet:".. And can My Subaru Use this Ethanol BS."

See your Subaru owners manual for reccomended fuel
I have used the #4 post source in the past. Ethanol free gas is available at many marinas (but you will pay more due to possible water pollution devises now required.
Also , aviation gas is also ethanol free~ found at airports.
I too buy gas at Sam's since it is always $.10 - $.20 per gallon cheaper than regular retail and service garages
I Always go to Sam's when the price is going down since they buy @ the daily spot price , and have several gasoline drops (tankers )per day.

Alaska: all gasoline is ethanol-free.

I am happy to learn that.

If your Subaru is relatively new, it will run okay on 10% ethanol. Your gas mileage will go down though. If the car sits unused for any length of time, water will tend to collect in the gas tank as well.

All cars should run on 10% ethanol if your car is within the 1980”and forward time frame. That is all you can find anymore.
Agree with your problem.

Modern cars are designed to run just fine on gasoline containing 10% ethanol. With Iowa being in the heart of corn country, and containing a LOT of ethanol plants, is it really surprising that all regular gas in Iowa contains ethanol?

By the way, I have to laugh at the Republicans who were so enamored with Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty for President. When he was governor of Minnesota, he tried to push through a resolution mandating 15% ethanol in the gas in Minnesota, totally ignoring the voiding of car warranties using that blend.

We’ve used regular gas with ethanol in our vehicles and lawn equipment for many years with absolutely no issues.

In 2004-2005 I worked in Cedar Rapids, IA. Had a 5th wheel RV towed by a 2003 Toyota Tundra. That was when ethanol was being pushed into almost all gas in IA. I experienced a mileage decrease of about 3-4 miles per gallon. Shell at that time had non-ethanol. That was the only fuel I would use, even though the cost per gallon was higher. As time went on, often could not find non-ethanol at Shell even across TX, LA, MS, AL and FL. Retired, 5th wheel RV has been sold, still difficult to find gas that provides initial miles per gallon without paying significant increases.

Ethanol laced fuel will destroy your fuel pump in 6 months or less if the pump was manufactured more than 5 years ago.

It will destroy every 2 stroke engine you own.

Adding 10% alcohol cuts gas mileage as much as 20% on closed loop feedback fuel injection systems (all now days).

Who would be against adding alcohol to gasoline?
