Deadliest Catch Captain Tells Congress He Can’t Fish Because of Shutdown

Senate Democrats hosted Deadliest Catch Captain Keith Colburn on the Hill today to say that he can’t go fishing because of the government shutdown.

Colburn was testifying at this afternoon’s Senate Commerce Committee hearing on the economic impacts of the government shutdown.

“This is the first time in my 28 years of fishing that I haven’t been in the Bering Sea in October getting ready to go fish,” Colburn said “Many fishermen and coastal communities are already facing tough times. This unnecessary shutdown may be the tipping point if the situation isn’t resolved soon… I’m a small businessman in a big ocean with big bills. I need to go fishing.”

I think Sig and the boys will handle it just fine despite mr. whiner crying and complaining. Not that it’s an easy job regardless. Not something I’m gonna try to do at 66 that’s for dang sure. LOL!

“But the talking head on MSNBC told him that its “the government” and the childish, whiny emails from MoveOn.org said that it’s the”...

I went through the tweets on a 20-something girl’s phone last night, someone who knows NOTHING about politics other than what she sees on her phone and TV, and stopped counting at 50 “#GOPShutdown” Tweets.

And not ONE tweet to counter it, on her list.
The Socialist Dems are getting their message out, even if it is a lie, and we just cannot counter it.

“someone who knows NOTHING about politics other than what she sees on her phone and TV,”

That is the battlefield, an entire generation who know nothing outside of pop culture.

I agree. These kids will live in the socialist hellhole that they think they want. Most people under the age of 35 have no work ethic and they believe that things should just be handed to them and the MoveOn.org narrative sounds so appealing to their laziness and overinflated sense of self-worth.

The good news is that the older generations know how to work (at useful jobs) and when the communists take over and everyone is expected to produce, we will just keep doing what we already do (but for less money). However, the Twitter Generation and the Entitlement Race will be forcefully and violently introduced to a new way of life—hard work with deadlines and quotas. It will be a workplace without EEO and OSHA and unions—just labor and punishment. Oh sure, some of them will get to be overseers, but the majority will find that all they wished for has just turned into a giant pile of crap.

And, best of all, these brats with their godlike self-esteem will not even know how to suck up to the bosses to gain favor because they’ve been talking back to authority ever since their parents started counting to 3 instead of spanking their butts.

The Russians will be over fishing the area and selling their crab to a lucrative US market while US fishermen go bankrupt sitting in port because of the lack of bureaucrats. Were I in this position I would be fishing as usual and tell the bureaucrats to go to hell. What is Obama going to do send out armed Coast Guard and Navy vessels to keep US fishing boats off the Bering Sea?

he said that?? He certainly qualifies as one elite useful idiot.

Welp, there goes the 12.99 Crabfest at Red Lobster.

I ordered 6 lbs of king crab from Omaha steaks a month ago for my Christmas Eve night of the 7 fishes! I’m glad I did

I wonder when these crabbing permit applications are made and when they they are approved/issued?

From this site:

http://alaskafisheries.noaa.gov/ram/crab/fcvpapp.pdf

I copied this:

“...Permits are annual, issued for a crab fishing year (July 1 through June 30)....”

I wonder if this Captain is a “useful idiot” for the Dims or is a willful participant in the Obama administration’s campaign to inflate the perceived impact of the government shutdown which they are insisting upon. The Discovery channel (headquartered in DC, I believe and the producers of Deadliest Catch) is infested with progressive agendanistas.

Kieth a useful idiot? Maybe useless. Demokkkrat, likely. So if they have permits, would king hussein order “my military” to prevent them from harvesting crabs?
