A year after almost losing her life behind the wheel of a race car, former Formula One test driver Maria de Villota was found dead in a hotel room in Seville on Friday.
Spanish police told The Associated Press that investigators did not find any drugs or signs of violence and "everything points to a death by natural causes." De Villota was 33. The police spokesman spoke on condition of anonymity in line with police policy.
De Villota's manager alerted staff at the Hotel Sevilla Congresos. An autopsy will be carried out.
De Villota was seriously injured last year in a crash during testing for the Marussia F1 team in England, losing her right eye and sustaining other serious head injuries that kept her hospitalized for a month.
De Villota, a Madrid native, was the daughter of Emilio de Villota, who competed in F1 from 1976-82.

what a crazy profession...
After crash
It was a weird crash. It wasn’t even on the track or at high speed. She had just completed her test run and was returning to the paddock, had slowed to about 20 mph, when suddenly the car accelerated to about 40mph and was wedged in beneath a large team equipment truck. She received head injuries and lost an eye as a result.
That was a first-class reconstruction job.
Click on the article. She looked very good except for the eye patch. Her hair was silver. I think that is kinda young for 33. Anyway she seemed to be healthy and getting her life back. Very sad.. She was just married. Doubt suicide but you never know do you?
The hair going from blonde to silver at the age of 33 suggests something awry in her body chemistry, unless she dyed it that way on purpose.
She died from an aneurysm brought on by frustration signing up for Obamacare.
You are ignorant. Not every young person dies of suicide. Apparently healthy people die every day of conditions no one suspected or from supposedly minor accidents or injuries.Except something really vital was injured and no one noticed.Just like the young man in Cincinnati who dies long months after being beaten by a gang, even if the authorities feared race riots too much to admit it.Many injuries don’t show on the outside.
This young woman was seriously injured and it is a surprise she even lived through the crash.
The asinine song or meme “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is simply not true. Whatever doesn’t kill you still leaves great injury and saps your resources.
I’ve survived some vehicle crashes and other accidents and every one has left some pain and weakness behind to remind me.
Until competent doctors say otherwise I will presume the crash injuries were the cause of death.
I got S$P hair at 23, ran in the family. By the time I turned 30 there was more salt than pepper...*smiles*
Oh dear.
Too bad. It will be interesting to see what is the COD.
YOU obviously don't know what the word "may" means.
Plus, I don't need lectures and name-calling from the likes of you. Please reserve your misplaced expletives for your mirror.

She said “I’ve got my eye out for Mullah Omar” and he took exception to being dissed by a girl...
they’ve already forgotten about that...they’ve moved along to the next hill.......
the car did not accelerate... listen to the audio of the crash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ2lFme6Xf8
they tried to blame it on the car, but it was not the car’s fault and was cleared in the investigation
LOL! Bout 35 years since I heard that one!
If only we could remember our classwork so well...
I aced calculus in college, a couple years ago my son asked for some help with his homework. I couldn’t even remember what a derivative was. Total blank. Use it or lose it.
Maybe she was texting.
