World famous German photographer Thomas Hoepker, sharing his memoirs on famous boxer Muhammad Ali with the Turkish audience, stated he took 'legendary' photos of him.
Being in Turkey's Bursa city as a guest of "Third International Photography Festival in Bursa" Hoepker told his photography memories with famous boxer Muhammad Ali and said he had the opportunity to take each scene of him during a boxing match.
"It was an incredible thing to approach him that much. I had the chance to know him well. He was quite healthy, athletic and strong [...]He spent most of his income to Muslims," Hoepker said. Hoepker also noted that he had managed to take the photo of one of Ali's three fists intended to the objective of his camera and added that one became a 'legendary' afterwards.
"One day, we stopped on a bridge while driving. I required him to wear off his shirt and jump. He accepted it and did and I took another unforgettable photo of Ali. I met him several times during the years, even after he suffered from the parkinson disease. I showed him the old photos, but he did not remember those. Last year, I met him once more and reminded him our old times, however he said that he did not remember those. It was tragic," Hoepker said.
Hoepker added he was working on some books and regulated his photo archive.
Famous Turkish photographer Ara Guler has also attended the meeting.
Marciano got the end of his nose knocked loose, and the cartilidge flapped when ever he moved his head. Bled like a stuck pig. Got hammered again and again every round. Finally landed his first punch in the end of the last round.
KO. Marciano wins.
Amazing fight. Guy could hit like a ton of bricks.
AMAZING story, mostly because it was true. My dad, if he were still alive today, would have been 104. He was around in those days and LOVED the Wednesday night fights, with announcer Johnny Atti.
NO ONE was allowed to disturb my dad during TWO programs: Wednesday night boxing and The Untouchables.
I can still hear that dramatic music of The Untouchables.
I remember one episode of The Untouchables about the infamous Barkers. The ENTIRE hour was gun fire. Amazing because that was probably true as well.
I thought Robert Stack WAS Eliot Ness!
I got to watch fight movies when I took boxing in college. I liked that more than getting punched up.
Naturally you did. That's why you CAN write and write a cohesive sentence. Head-as-punching-bag bodes poorly for ANY man poor, stupid or desperate enough to box for a living.
I was lucky enough to be bad at boxing, bad enough at it that making a living at it was never a choice.
I did use what I learned in that class once. As a LT in the Army a large soldier with a loud mouth suggested that someone should whip the LT’s but. I had the 1st Sgt march the company to the gym, and called a friend in to referee. The soldier smoked, and big slow guys who smoke, well they don’t last long.
After 2 rounds he couldn’t raise his arms. We had no more of that.
I remember TUCO saying something about liking big fat men in the FABULOUS movie, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly:
Tuco: I like big fat men like you. When they fall they make more noise. And sometimes they don't get up.
It was a great line from a great movie!
