Developing. Car into fence, debris in stands.
“but if it was serious he prolly wouldn’t be going to the local, he’s be in the chopper headed to a trauma center”
“The local” is the trauma center. Memorial Herman is a stones throw from Reliant
Not a bad idea at any automotive event
Good Idea. I have never been to a race. It was on my bucket list.
So much for those really ugly cars are going to stop cars from going airborne!

When the kids were small and we lived in KC, went to the races somewhere every Saturday and Sunday evening. Cars weren’t as expensive then with all the big sponsors but we knew many of the drivers and it was a fun time for all. Watching from the back end of a pick-up with friends, sitting in lawn chairs and drinking beer - just a good inexpensive way to have lots of fun.
Yea, but you are that much closer to the blimp when it crashes into the stands! One just never knows when their bill will come due.
sounds like fun. when i was little we went and got a “tasty-freeze” ice cream and parked on the side of a road, at the end of Sky Harbor runway. we laid on top of the car and the planes were only a few hundred feet above. freebie entertainment of years gone by.
i told my kids if i ever can afford anything again, i’ll rent a motorhome and we will (1) spend the night in the Walmart parking lot (lol) and (2) spend a few nights in a motorhome in the center of Phx International.
the older i get, the shorter my bucket list gets and the more i realize that i’m not going to do a whole bunch of those things i wanted to do. :(
surprisingly good news given the horrific video
The wife laughed when she read about blimp danger overhead.

Way back in the early 90s at Firebird in Phoenix, there was a 1964 Ford Thunderbolt there as an exhibition racer. Apparently, on Friday night's qualifying, it blew the clutch at the line. The bell housing caught most of it, but a chunk bounced out the bottom, off the concrete launch pad and up and over the stands into the pits. No one was hurt, but you just never know what can happen. We were there Saturday and Sunday for the main racing and talked to the owner/driver about it.
Yikes. Reminds me of Kenny Brack’s vicious flip into the catch fence at Texas Motor Speedway. Glad the ex-Mr. Judd is all right (even though I can’t stand his ex-wife) and that more fans weren’t injured.

It really happened already!

I was at Indy a few yrs ago when a blower belt off of Kalittas
Car landed not far from us.Not as bad as a housing flying
but bad enough...they’re heavier than you’d think.
Always wanted to attend Firebird.
