Not to mention the Dauntless and the Britannia of the Lensman books. Hell's bells, it's amazing. E.E.Smith wrote most of the plots that sci-fi writers have been ringing the changes on...for decades. "Battlestar Galactica"? Sheesh. Read the originals, folks.

Sorry, King -- YOU would have, naturally, esp. given your citing of the Skylark.
I more accurately should have directed my comment DIRECTLY to our colleagues commenting here.
It's a double tragedy, really. That Smith died relatively young, and that "science fiction" was for a couple-three decades a poison-dripping epithet of the "mainstream" (read: NYC) literary world.
Heinlein? Well, everybody 'knows' him (cough). I'm sure you've read Heinlein's credit to Doc, from which I've come to share--vigourously--his view. Simak, Ellison, Niven and Pournelle excepted, of course.

Look along the right-hand edge and about a third of the way down, you’ll see the Star Trek vessels.

So somewhere in there is the Enterprise???? Right side, about a third of the way down. You'll need a microscope. . .

Are you quoting "Dr. Smith" or are the moans of agony the result of memories of the show?
