"Law & Order SVU" is the last survivor of NBC's entire "Law and Order" family. They've always addressed current events, and advertise the program's stories as "ripped from the headlines," but last night's show was all that, on steroids. In 47 minutes, they address, and combined into one show Paula Deen, Trayvon Martin & George Zimmerman, and The NYPD's "stop and frisk" program. I'm wondering if anyone else saw it, and what you think.
And they made the Trayvon character literally a choir boy, including how he left home not with Skittles, but with cherry bubble gum.
Also, they never explained how the Paula Deen character managed to obtain a CCW permit in NYC....that is almost impossible to do.

When they write stories ripped from the headline I think they rip them from the current “Pravda” type newspapers opinion section...
I watched the first half hour of it, but when it became apparent it was going to essentially be a thinly veiled “poor Trayvon” thing, I switched the channel.
I really like L&O SVU and the other L&O series, but I can’t stand when they do their thinly veiled leftist morality plays.
I wonder if Paula Deen will sue....

I quit watching the L&O shows years ago. Liberal fantasy porn, meant to make people think over 90% of perps are white, Christian, and/or conservatives.
Speaking as a middle aged guy, I hearby declare Detective Benson Not Guilty by the obvious reasons.
I always luv how on Law and Order the terrorists always turn out to be...

I once watched part of an episode a while back (a year +) and I questioned to myself what makes this show ‘special’. I concluded that ANYONE who is a victim should be ‘special’ under the law. The show to me is based on an emotional pretext which is not actually prevalent in law enforcement in my opinion. IOW, it is based on a flawed pretext.
L&O has been left wing agitprop almost from the start. SVU was the worst of the bunch, IMHO.
I finally had enough when the did the “Talk Radio is responsible” episode.

What makes the Trayvon case stand out is the prolonged assault and battery he conducted (the beating of Zimmerman). Any case that is based on a shooting without such an assault is just not comparable.
The “reaching in the pocket” stuff in this TV show is a lot closer to the Abner Louima situation. But it is not close at all to the Trayvon situation.
You left out wealthy, in those shows rich white people and CEOs kill at astounding rates.
Don’t have to watch to know the guilty one is:
a) A Man
b) A White man
c) A Christian White Man
d) A Christian White man that is a businessman
e) A Christian White man that is a businessman and owns a gun
f) A Christian White man that is a businessman and owns a gun and cheats on his wife and/or beats her
g) A Christian White man that is a businessman and owns a gun and cheats on his wife and/or beats her and abuses his daughter (or young boys)
h) A Christian White man that is a businessman and owns a gun and cheats on his wife and/or beats her and abuses his daughter (or young boys) and is a repressed homosexual

No, but it does make a tremendous stink.
There are more homicides in Manhattan on the various L&O shows than there actually are in Manhattan—there were about 60 real murders there last year.
