You say, “The forces against you and the roll of the dice on hormones, peer pressure, school environ, et al just don’t allow that sometimes.”
I bet Billy Ray has the same philosophy as you. It’s the prevailing philosophy on child rearing, and certainly the cause of the disaster we’re in.
I lived it too with my eldest. He had all the every Sunday at church, skiing, beach boy scouts, stay at home mom, dinner on the table every night at 6, own room, desk, papers, scuba diving, quiet, no financial or health problems but still went off the rails for a bit. oh yeah, everyone blames the parents, except sometimes it is not the parents.
