Defense Department officials said last week as many as 400,000 civilian DoD workers — roughly half of its civilian workforce — will be furloughed starting today.

Fredhead wrote: “I thought DoD civilians and active military were funded at last minute by a separate bipartisan CR?”

Not passed by the Senate. And that CR was only for active duty military to be paid, NOT DoD civilians.

It was passed, unanimously I believe, by the Senate and signed by Zero last night at around 10:00 pm.

It funds some DOD civilians that directly support the mission.

This military family was more than ready, willing and able to weather the storm but I’m glad we don’t have to. The troops still had to report to duty and I’m not sure a “volunteer” military means they have to do volunteer work without being paid.

The others can at least stay home and look for another job if necessary.
