It was passed, unanimously I believe, by the Senate and signed by Zero last night at around 10:00 pm.
It funds some DOD civilians that directly support the mission.
This military family was more than ready, willing and able to weather the storm but I’m glad we don’t have to. The troops still had to report to duty and I’m not sure a “volunteer” military means they have to do volunteer work without being paid.
The others can at least stay home and look for another job if necessary.

The union is threatening to sue the govt this time to get relief. Accepting a pay cut for 6-22 days furlough over the past 5 months was different from now, looking at a pay cut for an unknown period of time ahead
The federal workers on furlough today will nor get paid unless Congress passes relief or a lawsuit prevails
The excepted workers who are at work today are nor getting paid but “should” get back paid
However if they take any leave even sick leave it is unpaid time off
BTW if you are so envious of “job security” (like this past 8 months where feds have a job just not paychecks?) and “lifetime pensions (TSP is funded by the employees with employer matching and BTW it is inaccessible to those furloughed unless they can show a “hardship” by dollar amount and then they are locked out of contributing for 6 months after)
then why didn't YOU choose it the easy life? You wanted risk for reward? You got it.
Feds also pay federal state and SS tax same as you so there goes 60% of income for us too, so your point being? If you are paying 74% combined taxes you are wealthy or poorly planned - hire a good financial planner and CPA

I don’t work directly for the government but I send them checks every quarter.
In what universe have we descended into where a government which WAS to have only received their powers from “We The People”, can do this and everyone of the very people who created the problem are not only paid in full but given an exemption from the most destructive piece of legislation in my life time?
No pay for anyone in Congress or the WH and none of their aids and thousands of a$$ kissing sycophants.
In this bizarre world, President Pinocchio and the Senate can say No, No, No, No... to every bill sent by the House and it is the fault of the GOP controlled House.
House, send the Senate a bill funding everything and the only proviso that CommieCare be implemented EXACTLY as passed with ZERO exemptions. Then stand your ground and fight the battle that you gave the communist democrats everything they wanted and voted for (in commiecare) and they still said no so the government shutdown is on their heads.

Taxes are withheld from our (now nonexistent) paycheck so I guess Uncle Sam and Uncle Lilmarty in MD have to wait a while, but I just sent a check to the state/local vultures for $10K in property taxes so the cupboard be looking a bit bare

Thanks Silverleaf. I agree. I realize we are still better off than many in this economy and I appreciate and understand that. The Ds that kiss Zero’s rear just don’t understand how badly ObamaSCARE is already affecting the economy.
Actually the DoD workers and other civilians were told there would NOT be retroactive pay. They are handling this different than last time.
The “lifetime” pension is not what you think it is either, but that’s okay. Many do not understand it, instead falling for the misconceptions.
Just like everyone thinks we have a “Cadillac” health care plan - we don’t. We had Cigna last year, changed to BlueCross/Blue Shield since our doctors no longer took Cigna. We pay well over $400 a month for 2 of us. It’s not free like everyone thinks or so subsidized as to almost be free.
I understand the deficit and the way the economy is as you pointed out and of course spending should be cut and the gov’t. needs to learn within its means but the amount saved by furloughing federal employees will not make a huge difference in all of this, yet it’s the workers that are hurt.
If I worked for congress or the senate I’d be pissed that I’d be on unpaid leave and my boss would be getting paid.
The IRS said that they are up and working.

Apparently, the Obammycare websites for signing up at the exchanges (Exchange your freedom for a little blue pill) are still open.
Somehow, this is an "essential function", and they are launching it anyway.
