No state income tax, generous homestead exemptions, no dictatorship by unions....therefore personal home services like plumbing, painting, lawn care, etc. are very reasonable (and you can bargain), no massive heating bills eight months of the year, lots of healthy, free outdoor recreation opportunities, lower property taxes than in many northern states like Illinois, New Yawk......a smaller wardrobe with more lightweight clothes, shoes, etc. will do ya all year round, lots of senior discounts at stores and restaurants, early-bird-special dinners.....I could go on, but it's too late to do all this thinking!

Also gas is a little cheaper here than in NY and the non-ethanol crap will be more readily available, though I heard Pasco Cty may raise their gasoline tax. WTH?
The article that this article was cribbed from (linked in the OP) adds Florida and South Carolina.
My main pet peeves with FL, the traffic, especially US19 and the section of I-75 between Land o Lakes and Brandon that’s seems to be under perpetual reconstruction, and I’ve yet to find a REAL NY style pizza or old-school Jewish style bagel anywhere here.
Yeah, but it's full of New Yorkers and mosquitos.
And I'm not sure which is more annoying.
Another plus for Florida....no (state) estate tax.
Also, Florida is close to the islands in the Caribbean, where health clinics will likely be constructed to serve the healthcare needs of Americans fleeing the medical hell known as Obamacare.
Florida, are you kidding? You forgot humid, bugs, hurricanes, dangling chads, horrible drivers, old horrible drivers, home of every diet pill scam company on earth. Did I mention humid?
I keep a place in Broward county Florida but prefer my other place in Colombia SA.
