With all the obamascare going on, I wonder about my situation as a retiree ...
Now everyone understands why the rush to get guns out of the hands of the electorate. Voting by trigger finger has been made moot.
What's that ... a new dance ?
I own my home .. no mortgage, just taxes (not much on the scale of things)
We eat Asian ... lots of rice, veggies and a little meat (basically .. of COURSE there's other stuff ... SHE may be Asian but I'M by God a sugar lovin' AMERICAN .. )
We don't drive much .. church .. shopping .. visiting the kids .. all local
So unless something tragic happens ... we survive comfortably
Most importantly ... we tithe.
We just can't have any change in the demands on us.
I refuse to get food stamps which I'm sure we'd qualify for and so far, no LIHEAP fuel gift from the gummint. (I burn fuel oil supplimented with about 6 cords of firewood each winter)
I’m a retired fed. I have no idea how this abomination is going to affect me. I haven’t received any paperwork fom OPM yet. I’ll be afraid to open the envelope if it arrives here.
I’ve said for years now that I feel like the Bruce Willis character visiting the past in 12 Monkeys. But it’s not just that I see the future almost as clearly as he did. Rather, the bible is pretty clear on it. And I believe each generation bears responsibility for not the world they inherit, but what they make of it.
As our founding fathers did.
One thing for sure. I wouldn't sign anything unless I saw in writing and official that laid out my options.
You are old and no longer useful! Just a drain on society and no longer required. Crawl into a hole and pass quietly into the nite. Who cares about You!
The panels will decide for you...
/blantant sarcasm from a 55 year old
I completely agree with you. If I get sick, either I will get well on my own or I will croak. Big deal. Life is torturous and not worth living right now in the grip of demons.
My sister was in the hospital this year and it was awful. I would like to avoid all that mess
God's been good to me in that I haven't had any problems in life that wasn't fixed with stiches.
LOL...that made my day!!! Thanks!
I really like to read Ecclesiastes. Proverbs is wisdom 101. Ecclesiastes is wisdom 301. And the very last two sentences bring the whole thing into perspective.
Whenever I read it, it is cover to cover.
you ought to be embarrassed not trumpeting the fact that you lived off the taxpayers for years unless you are retired military
Because of ObamaCare he is closing his doors and leaving the medical practice entirely.

A couple of years ago my doctor made his exit into an early retirement — because of Obamacare. He absolutely detested it.
Welcome to the USSA.
50 years ago YOU would'a taken a gummint job 'cause they paid SO well and offered terrific bennies.
Yes you would'a ... don't try to deny it.
The “wealthy” will have moved off shore to escape what is happening.
*******
Sure to be a growing trend. The idea appeals to many. And the potential for a higher standard of living is icing on the cake.
If you can’t beat ‘em, leave ‘em. :)
50 years ago government jobs were for losers
government jobs now are a way to get “on the gravy train”—the first time I ever heard this was from my sister who was attending Northwestern University J school in Evanston Illinois.
She is on the gravy train alright, disability.
God’s been good to me in that I haven’t had any problems in life that wasn’t fixed with stiches.
Us old guys can spend our last days in all sorts of helpful ways. We can teach the young about “real” life. We can help the infirm. We can lead by example. But if we just want to keep on living to please ourselves, and have not seen any change in what pleases us, we are not getting it.
I learned to play bass when I was 44 (1998)and played in “classic rock” bands (among other genres) right up through moving to Kentucky a couple of years ago. That ended it after seeing what I saw.
Specifically, it was fat and ugly men and women in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s acting like teenagers, only in much more repulsive ways. I actually conversed with many of these people and it’s almost like there is nobody home. They have picked up zero wisdom after many decades on this planet and their lifestyle (even away from the bars) demonstrates it.
And after a great deal of reflection I realized that it was the same in Seattle, except it had a prettier coating on it. A nicer facade. America has become a culture that is rotten to the core. It is why we are where we are. And where we are is a very, VERY bad place. Only a minority of us notice. More are figuring it out, but it takes direct impacts on their lives for it to happen.
It will get a lot worse before it gets better.
