I looked up "vanilla" and learned that its name means "little pod". It's derived from the Spanish word "vaina" which means "sheath". And believe it or not, that in turn derives from the Latin "vagina" meaning sheath, from whence the lady-part gets its name as well. So the name "Sweet Pea" may be a multi-layered pun on her ..., ummm
