HUNTINGTON, WV -
A mom and dad are facing charges after officers say the parents had no idea the toddler was found in a store parking lot wearing nothing but shoes.
Charles Grieco, 41, and Patricia Grieco, 40, of Baltimore Street in Huntington, are charged with felony child neglect, according to court documents. Officers with the Huntington Police Department say they found a two-year-old boy in the parking lot of a store in the 2900 block of 5th Avenue Sunday morning. Officers say the boy only had shoes on and managed to walk across Irvine Avenue to the parking lot on his own.
Officers went to the boys home where they say the parents had no idea the toddler was missing. Charles and Patricia were taken to the Western Regional Jail.

It’s WV, they may be.
My son was an escape artist. One time he made it out the open door while my wife turned to grab a fresh diaper, then the naked chase was on for our neighbors to enjoy.
I came in from milking the cows one morning to find 2-year-old DS1 out in the front yard in nothing but a smile, headed for the road. (DH was finishing up in the barn.)
After I caught the wanderer DH and I went ballistic on child-proofing.
They are fast at that age!
I escaped once when I was that age. They eventually found me in the neighbor’s back yard playing with their dog.
My parents were not charged with felonies.
I don’t think that’s meth, but I could be wrong.
I think it’s just - well let’s just say the gene pool needs some chlorine. You see these all over the country, but man, WV has more than its share.
Before my FRiends in WV object, let me acknowledge we got ‘em in the Keystone state too. In the counties that border WV.
(Puts on flameproof suit and retreats to the bunker...)
My daughter was barely 2 when she took off from the house one morning with the dog. The rest of the house was still sleeping! She had walked about 3 blocks when our old neighbor saw her (close to the house we had recently moved out of). He walked her home, with the dog following close behind. I’m surprised the dog let him near her!
Q: How can you tell that a West Virginia girl is a virgin?
A: __________
“If she ain’t good enough for her family, she ain’t good enough for ours.”
(un)Holy smoke!-—that lady looks 71!
It happens all the time, and usually when the kid is found safe the police are just smiling and relieved about it like everyone else while they watch the parents go into meltdown mode. They know almost all decent parents will beat themselves up over it far worse than anything they could ever do and are just happy it ended well.
In this case they must have had a really good reason to charge them like they did, priors or something.
The son of a guy I work with heard a knock on his front door late one night. His two year old son had opened the window on his second story bedroom window and climbed down a trellis.
Kids - they do the darndest things
After looking at the pics - holy crap! Those two have had hard lives.
I was 5 and my brother was 7 when Dad asked us to watch our 2-year-old brother while he took a shower. We said ok, then watched the Flintstones instead. Dad ended up chasing diaper-clad baby brother down the sidewalk. Spankings all around.
They both look as if they have an echo chamber betwen the ears. Can I have that little boy, be his Grammie?
When I was about 2 I wondered out of the house crossed a busy street and ended up at the 76 gas station. The Alameda cops picked me up. At the same time my mom discovered me missing and called the police. They told her they had a kid at the station. She went down there. I was sitting on the counter eating donuts! Surrounded by cops. Happy as a clam.
When she called me I ignored her at first. She said she wanted to throttle me right there. The thing is there was no arrest no neglect. Sometimes it happens.
