In life, he never won an Emmy, although nominated twice. In death he wont receive one of the five separate special In Memoriam tributes during the Sunday, Sept. 22 awards ceremony on CBS. The programs executive producer made that firmly if imperfectly clear when asked, by me, during a Wednesday afternoon teleconference.

Ok, then what about Jack Klugman?
Larry Hagman, for all his faults, was married to the same woman from 1954 until his death in 2012. That he managed that and a Hollywood career is simply unheard of.
What can you tell me about Jack Klugman? You are correct about Larry Hagman.
It was Jack Klugman who turned me on to Fisherman's Friend lozenges. I've been a rock solid fan ever since.
“All they do is give out awards. Greatest Fascist Dictator: Adolf Hitler.” — Woody Allen, from “Annie Hall”
(not quite true — they also receive $1000s of dollars of gifts for attending, not including the loans of $7000 handbags and such from ‘designers’)
Thanks SMGFan.
Well, Robin Williams just read a short minute or 2 about Jonathan Winters. No big video production. Then commercial.
Well, at least Hagman had a long, multi-decade career. But, yeah, Hagman himself was pretty much an embarrassment. I read a long interview he gave, and I swear, he came across as the most ludicrously self-absorbed person I could imagine, droning endlessly about his search for inner spirituality through dope. It was so... pathetic.
And indeed he was also such a laughable hypocrite, obnoxiously and mean-spiritedly going around lambasting tobacco and tobacco smokers, while boozing and ingesting every form of dope around!
TV is a wasteland surrounded by a sea of filth. Why are we even wasting our time talking about it?
Agree, Hagman was an obnoxious jerk both on and off the screen.
Two things:
1. To hell w/the Hagman haters.
2. There is poetry in your words....”that gay show” and
“full blown”. Gaytards would love to be able to bleep
that......but they can’t.
I didn’t particularly like Dallas, but you have to give it it’s due: it changed the rules for drama in the 80s, and Hagman was a big part of the reason.
well, there is little I can do to elect Steve Lonegan next month no matter how much I talk.
Can’t the gays just be happy with The Tony Awards, and leave the other award shows alone?
A hear a dead junkie will be getting it.
There were a few dozen who didn’t get their own individual “in memoriam”s. They still put up his photo when they listed all the rest, which included some other big, but for the most part, very old, names. He just wasn’t one of the five they chose to do an in-depth memorial.
And I find a lot of the comments about Cory Monteith to be in very poor taste. He was young, talented, and had a problem. I’m not a fan of “Glee,” but this wasn’t some morally bankrupt criminal. As far as I know, his only crimes were against himself.
Larry Hagman had his own problems, too. Who knows if Cory Monteith might have cleaned up eventually if he hadn’t passed away? I looked at his Twitter right after they announced his death and they all seemed perfectly normal; it didn’t seem like he was on some bender. And there were posts from less than 24 hours before. His heart just gave out with what I imagine was very light use, for an addict.
As for him being chosen over Larry Hagman, the core demo that I imagine watch the Emmys probably wouldn’t know who he is, for the most part. There’s no way they could left Mr. Monteith out. And I thought what Jane Lynch said was perfect, actually.
Tell me more about Larry Hagman. Use wiki if needed.
I didn’t even know those were on last night.
Guess who won best actor in a drama? Jeff Daniels for playing a liberal news anchor in some HBO show that world barely knows exists. I wouldn’t if I didn’t see in a list of shows once and wondered what it was. Just like with the 2 they gave to James Spader for the atrocious “Boston Legal”, Daniels gets rewarded for making liberal speeches to the camera.
Last night I watched Columbo, Thriller (Boris Karloff as Host) and twilight Zone on Me-TV.
I also saw a few minutes of the Hannity town hall debate free-for-all on defunding Obama-care in a CR, that was the replay at midnight.
Me-TV was better than Hannity.
You get Me-TV? Nice.
Do you get “Movies” channel? Here it’s Comcast channel 296 - really good movies (classics).
