Imagine that, people spending a sunny day lounging in the grass by a river. If that painting was done today, everybody would have their faces buried in a phone device or tablet.

I am old enough to remember when Sunday afternoons used to be truly lazy. All the stores were closed and people just went outdoors to take a stroll or read a book.

It was consciously designed by communists to signify nothing. Look at any Picasso or the junk art every city buys.

That hangs above my dining room table.

Absolutely love it. One of my favorites.

If you read his stuff he appears to be mind-blind as well.

Modern "art" is the naked emperor. It ain't art if even a monkey can do it.

It's the crop. On the full painting, half of the hat of the guy on the far right is visible.

Thomas Kincaide may be a perfectly nice man but his sickly sweet fairy tale paintings make me puke.

He probably was a nice man, but he’s dead now.

I will say that if you buy it to put on the wall, his art is best in very small doses. It’s really great for Christmas cards. But on the whole, it’s a positive, warm and (dare I say) traditional view of “home and family”. I find nothing wrong with that, so I can’t mock the man.

I wasn’t mocking the man I was mocking his art. If he was alive he would be free to mock mine.

If you’re blind, how do you know the guy leading you is blind?

My favorite is also a Caravaggio painting:

“St John The Baptist” in the collection of The Nelson - Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City,Mo.

Edgar Samuel Paxson is not particularly interesting for me.
