I think it boils down to the exposure they get and the style you prefer. I agree. As far as 'regionally famous' guys go, the late-great Danny Gatton from Maryland was incredible, and a bit more widely known, there's Fairfax, Virginia's Roy Buchanan.

Danny may have been regionally famous, but if you were to ask any of the guitarists on the list, they were well aware of him. I can't think of any solo of his that really stands out, but to see him play was a treat.

He was as good/better than Leo Kottke. Sadly he drank excessively, often during a concert. But could he play when he put his mind to it.
Didn't read the whole list. Is Leo Kottke on it?
