Looking to enjoy the taste of eggs without eating the actual chicken? Whole Foods may have the answer for you.

Yep, just add booze
The same folks who brought you leeches and blood letting, have been saying for 40 years that sodium and high cholesterol foods are what causes heart disease. Uh huh.
No bread??? We bay German bread from local Russian deli.My favorite is bread, French butter and green onions. Heaven :-)
I will not buy green eggs.
Couple of eggs, 3 or 4 pieces of bacon, 1 or 2 pieces of rye bread and a Bloody Mary can’t be beat.
Everything is good in moderation :-)
“Too low, you die.”
^^^ THIS! ^^^
I will not eat green eggs and ham
I will not eat them, Sam I Am!
I cut out sugar and refined foods as well. i feel much better, I am losing weight, and I am enjoying rich, whole fat dairy, eggs and meat.
“If you are ever feeling weakly or exhausted, eat a big breakfast at dinner (two eggs, a breakfast meat, biscuit or tortilla, yogurt & fruit) and you will feel like Superman when you wake up.”
I second that! I used to race 100 mile mountain endures. Nothing gave me energy like that for dinner then again for breakfast. Didn’t have to poop for a week either!
I have raised my own laying hens for the past five years. I eat two eggs that are under one hour old every morning. It can’t hardly be any fresher or taste any better. I’ll never eat another store bought egg again.
I like bread, but my wife has high blood sugar. That’s kind of killed some of that. It’s just hard to get good bread around here and it bugs me if I get some and don’t get to eat it all before it goes south.
As a single guy I used to get a load of warm bread from an Italian deli down the way, a pound of butter and eat bread covered in butter, washed down with beer while watching football. Back when the Raiders were worth watching.
My favorite way to fry eggs...
Each time I fire up the grill or the smoker, I always add a couple Jimmy-Dean mild sausage chubs, ala “Smoked Fatty”:
- Jimmy Dean Mild sausage roll
- Carefully remove wrapper, leaving the sausage roll intact.
- Add a heavy coat of your favorite BBQ rub (brown-sugar based really works well, but use whatever you like)
- Smoke over your favorite wood to desired doneness
I take them off the heat a bit early when the internal temp reaches 135 deg (want them a bit under-done) and put one each in a quart freezer bag and stick it in the freezer. Some folks take them to well done and eat them immediately.
Then, on those days when we decide on breakfast for dinner, we’ll take one out, slice it and finish-cook it in a skillet. Most of the fat was rendered in the smoke, so there will be far less in the pan; however, there will still be enough to fry eggs in.
Not only are the smoked/rubbed sausage patties killer, but eggs cooked in the fat pick up a bit of that smokey-BBQ flavor. They are *awesome*. Add a couple Pillsbury “Grands” biscuits and it’s a darn fine “breakfast for supper”.
I don’t care what they say about eggs, folks have been eating them since the beginning of time. What those egg-headed researchers fail to understand is that personal experience trumps all. We’ll keep on enjoying them, averaging a dozen a week.
Sunday brunch to live for:
Scrambled eggs w/cheese & peppers, bacon and/or sausage, rye toast, & Bloody Mary (don’t forget the horseradish!)
Rebellion is good for the soul.
Geez you guys are cracking me up. Real vanilla beans Johnny. All things in moderation for sure number one rule. I miss marine corp “SOS”, was hamburger in white gravy, stuck to you like glue plus killer omelets with bananna peppers. With a cholesterol level of 200 my doc wanted to give me some stuff that left a dead possum taste in my mouth for a month, end of story on that, hehe. I will have to say that sodium is a big no in my life, over a certain amount everyday (1500 mg) i get nausea and have other problems. A big breakfast is important to your life rookies, just do it.
:-)
