My wife and I both made it through the child raising years without a dishwasher, and still didn't have one till we moved here a bit over three years ago. We used it for a few months for the novelty of it, then stopped using it because just the two of us don't generate enough dirty dishes to need it. I can was a pile of dishes in 10 minutes, faster than the machine can , and we both wash dishes as we dirty them when cooking big meals.

Now washers and dryers, had them non-stop for the last 35yrs. Can't stand going to a laundromat.

Oh yeh, agree totally about the laundromat. What a hassle.

Hubby likes to pile dishes up, and when there’s no more plates or silver ware, he might think about washing them. I like to wash them as I go, but when I get busy, they tend to just grow until I can’t get mine washed, and then one of us has to clean up the mess(usually me).
