Half Of The United States Lives In These Counties
Walter Hickey and Joe Weisenthal ^ | Sept 4, 2013 | Walter Hickey and Joe Weisenthal

Using Census data, we've figured out that half of the United States population is clustered in just the 146 biggest counties out of over 3000.

Here's the map, with said counties shaded in. Below the map is the list of all the counties, so you can see if you live in one of them.

And here's the whole list of counties that are shaded in.

Los Angeles County, CA Cook County, IL Harris County, TX Maricopa County, AZ San Diego County, CA Orange County, CA Miami-Dade County, FL Kings County, NY Dallas County, TX Queens County, NY

(rest of list at link)

Based on the map, at least for New Jersey, three of the populous counties are firmly Republican.

They’ll just draw-up more counties. Good luck changing the electoral college. The libs are pushing for one person one vote.

I am of the opinion that in order to reverse a Supream Court rulling and to further stave off rural dissatisfaction with State legislators, that we need the following constitutional amendment

Each state shall exclusively use a bicameral legislature composed of one state senator to represent each county within the boundaries of the state and and equal number of state representatives to be apportioned equally by population.

“Half of the population of the USA lives in these counties. (You won't want to be there if the SHTF.)”

Not true about Montgomery County, Texas, that is on the list. I live there - this county is large and it's rural country except where the towns are and no town is huge. I live in the largest town and can get in my car and in two minutes I'm in the country and every town is that way.

Montgomery County is a county of Bubbas, firearms rule here, and we are about 97% Republican - the most Republican county in Texas. The county population is, or close to, 400,000 but you would have to search to find them all as they are tucked away in wooded areas and as I said, it's a large county of rural areas and we don't cotton to strangers or liberals.

To get the flavor of the county, go down Hwy. 105 to the gun range and there are other gun ranges in the county plus people in the rural areas practice their weapons technique on their own property.

This is where I'll be when the SHTF.

The libs are pushing for one person one vote.

Why the reduction? I thought they had "vote early, vote often--dead or alive".

the solution is to make each state’s counties count as one vote with the majority win of COUNTIES to award the electoral vote.

Thus each county in a state is equally important and not population dependent for importance.

this ends flyover country.

nope, rural mountainous Virginia. It’s “upstate New York” cold there in the winters.

Virginia truly is a beautiful state. Too bad the northern portion has suffered such an extreme Rat infestation.

Yeah, I fully expect the loathesome Terry McAuliffe to be our next governor, rather than the near-sublime Ken Cuccinelli. My interaction with locals are that Cuccinelli believes things too strongly for their taste.
