Iran is threatening to launch a massive missile strike against Israel if the United States attacks Syria for using chemical weapons against its own people, which could touch off a full-blown war in the region.
The day of reckoning is near, according to Hossein Shariatmadari, the chief editor of Keyhan newspaper, an outlet controlled by Irans supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
An Op-Ed penned by Shariatmadari Tuesday warned that the impending confrontation between the West and Syria would provide the long-awaited opportunity for revenge against Israel and America.
Iran has long drawn a red line around the Assad regime. And Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon, Israels neighbor, are armed with thousands of missiles.

“I wonder if Israel’s “defense systems” include using nukes”
Yes, it is called their “Sampson Option”. Netanyahu and leaders before him make it plain if the life of Israel is severely threatened, they will use the Sampson Option. Sampson had lost his strength due to his hair being cut. He stood between the pillars holding up the building and prayed for strength to take those pillars down. He pulled them down and he died, too. The analogy is Samson took the enemy down before he died, too, so Israel would destroy its vile enemy even if they died in the process, too.

It is commonly known that Iran will be more likely to build and launch nuclear weapons, if we do nothing against Iran's support nations and against Iran. It is also commonly known that most people who are very politically active are also anti-Israel and tend to scoff at threats against America's future security. There's a category of people who refuse to consider consequences of their more evil actions and inactions.

For all that I didn’t care much for the Kennedy Administration, that crisis was a whole lot different. In spite of the Bay of Pigs disaster, there were competent people in that Administration. Khrushchev could believe they meant what they said. They had seen war.
With Obama, you can almost bank on the opponents’ threats chasing us off. We’ve moved from meaningful military action to “a shot across the bow” at most. We are moral cowards, less even than paper tigers. Putin has got to be sitting up wondering, “How much can I really get away with?”

Israel could destroy them in 1 day if they really wanted to. Germany had a better military than Russia too. Best thing to do is let Syria take care of itself, and not get involved.

The way to defeat a sophisticated system is to overwhelm it with numbers. If evil fires a thousand missiles at Israel the vast majority will get through.
