I remember the days when you couldn’t even say toilet but alas, those days are long gone.
Count me in that vintage also....
Remember the first time I heard F in a movie. It was a Clint Eastwood,
one.
Soon it will be commonplace on non cable TV the way the media has
desensitized any semblance of decency.

I let my 14 year-old daughter stay up to watch it - she wanted to see Austin Mahone - and I went to bed. Then I saw the clips the next morning. Kinda sad to see Miley grow up to be a pig - but not really that big of a deal to us. Actually - don’t we see similar stuff on Dancing with the Stars?

I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. Over and over..."turn your TV off", "cancel your cable", "don't subscribe to cable".
So the personal use of our TVs is subject to the gyrations and obscenities of these little bleached blond ho's, right?.
No one should push back on these crafty little sexpots, right?
And no one should push back at the amoral network nabobs with dollar signs in their greedy little eyes, right?
Let's all just throw our TV sets out the window.....and like Brittania, let these nubile Lolitas rule the waves...the airwaves, that is.

Kind of interesting, back in the 1980’s, our town council banned MTV and it was very tame compared to today. Also back in the ‘80’s, Lawrence Welk was a no go but now looking back, it would be very interesting to see his show presented to kids while they are very young but not in school. Have it shown in the homes where it is more relaxed versus in school where kids associate it to being something not being fun. Kids would be more receptive if shown away from school.

***I remember the days when you couldn’t even say toilet but alas, those days are long gone. ***
LOL! I believe it was Archie Bunker who first said..”Turlet”.
I also remember when PSYCHO was the first movie to show a toilet.
I also remember when SEARS catalogs had the underwear model wear black leotards with the bra and panties over them, and TV adverts showed the same but on a headless store maniquin.
My god I’m old!

***Reminded me of my grade school days when girls would want to show you their bottom.***
Years ago, I was watching the PBS show At the Movies with critics Siskel and Ebert. The movie they were reviewing was PORKY’S.
They wondered why so many young girls were willing to bear it all for movies. One mentioned that there were girls standing in line to take the place of anyone who did not want to show it all.
I believe it is called exhibitionism.

Lets not forget that it was MTV who staged the “wardrobe mishap” at the halftime show during the Superbowl several years ago.
Sleaze. Pandering to the lowest of the low.

I still think that Lady Gaga is a dude.
I've seen pictures. Look at the face. Look at the jaw, Look at the adam's apple.
I won't, however, check out the replay of Lada Gaga in a thong, just on the off chance that I'm right. :-)

As if this were the first time vulgarity was on MTV, that train left the station about 25 years ago.

On some of the channels. But they can be blocked and removed from your guide list.
No one should push back on these crafty little sexpots, right?
It's been that way since "Like a Virgin" 30 years ago. All the pushback does is give them the attention they are craving in the first place. MTV is smut. Always has been. Always will be.
These sorts of performances for the "crafty little sexpots" usually signals that they are within 3-5 years of the obligatory rehab stint.
The outrage and pushback and calls for jobs etc do exactly what they want it to do...feed into some sort of rebel image that the kids will inevitably be drawn to. It's a formula that seems to work every time it's tried.
MTV is a freaking joke and a mere shell of what it once was. The best thing to do is to simply treat them that way. Laugh at their sorry old butts trying to remain relevant, and remove their channels from your guide.

"I remember the days when you couldn't even say toilet but alas, those days are long gone. " +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I remember when Jane Russell had to model her 18 hour bra standing beside a mannequin.
I remember when "Mary Ann" on "Gilligan's Island" and "Jeanie" on "I dream Of Jeanine" could not show their belly buttons on TV!!
The only reason the networks allowed "Daisy Duke" to wear those short shorts on "The Dukes of Hazzard" is if she wore panty hose with them!!! True story!!

When I was younger and MTV was launched in the early 80’s, I watched it constantly. Now that I am a conservative old fart in my 50’s; the channel no longer exists for me. I have a customized channel grid on my DISH network, and MTV is one of many channels that didn’t make the cut.

The music business demands this sort of stuff these days. The sure-est way to get good numbers is to shock.
Its also a way to cover up for a singers lack of skill and abilities.

"to block any channels they don't like."
How does this work?
I don't want the trash channels in the house, but I do enjoy some channels like History and Mr. hummingbird does watch the sports stuff.
Can channels be blocked on Dish?
Hope so.
We don't have the little children (nieces and nephews) in the house very much but I just don't like the "aura" of stink in the house.

Here you go:
Dish PARENTAL LOCKS
Parental Locks allow you to limit the programming that can be watched on your receiver. This enables you to ensure that the programming being watched is appropriate for your family. You can access this feature by navigating to the Menu on your DISH receiver and then entering the "Locks" menu. Note: If you have a dual tuner, you must set up Parental Locks on both TV1 and TV2 to fully protect your system.

"Drop the cable, hook the TV up to the internet and watch what you want."
How do you do this? Not technically informed here, but sounds good to be able to do what you posted.
TIA!
