I was appalled by Miley Cyrus' act when I saw the clip online yesterday. But consumers already have the choice not to subscribe to cable, and to block any channels they don't like. The government needs to butt out, and John McCain needs to sit down and STFU.
I remember the days when you couldn't even say “toilet” but alas, those days are long gone.
Whoops....”attention getting display. There performance will be”.
Should read “attention getting display. Their “performance” will be”.........
Didn’t amuse me either. I didn’t watch it. I didn’t know it was on. My kids didn’t watch it either. They don’t know what a Lady Gaga is.
Get real. It’s MTV. Parents group - turn it off if you don’t want your kids watching it.
It’s a dim memory from the past, but doesn’t the “M” in “MTV” stand for “music”?
Maybe they should change the name to “PTV” (porn TV).
Television is a race-to-the-bottom culturally and morally. And we are still a long way from the bottom. The only solution is to simply turn it off.
But Maaaaaaahm, I wanna watch the MTV music award show.
What part of “no” didn’t you understand ?
But, that requires a spine, and standing up to the world’s value system.
the only way “heads will roll” is if people stop going to the concerts and buying the music products
Lady Caca, Smiley Virus...what a pair of low-life whores. They think they’ve pushed the envelope when in fact, they’ve crossed the line.
But we DON'T have the choice to get some channels and not others. MTV is part of every basic cable or satelite package. Why should I be forced to subsidize (pay for) MTV when all I want is the disney channel, sci-fi and HGTV? (for example)
All this bill does is uncouple the packages and let the consumer actually pay for only what he wants.
Of course this will result in some channels going broke due to lack of subscribers (MTV being one of them I think) but ifthey can't make it in the open market they shouldn't be around anyway.
Like MTV for example. This bill lets us do that while still getting the channels we want.
You know, these “Parent groups” and other groups are asking the bosses of these celeb-u-tards to take some sort of corrective action...
.... But they are doing EXACTLY what their bosses want them to do.
People think that “Smily Virus” (I’m using that one from now on, btw - Thanks !) is out of control. What if she is actually _turning down doing some of the things that she is being asked to do_ ?
What if what we’re seeing here IS the reins being pulled ?
I think Lady Gaga’s gig was ten times anyone else’s. She’s a showgirl. Very entertaining and glamorous. The bikini at the end had a cleverness to it, as we catch a quick peak.
Contrast with the post puberty bubble gum act of Myli. Nothing to see here except teeny bop exhibitionism. Reminded me of my grade school days when girls would want to show you their “bottom.”
The rap stuff epitomizes the depravity of black youth and the predatory nature of the people behind the scenes who produce the images to lure money from people who have none.
The worst thing about it all though was watching that old geezer Alan Thicke and his old man’s body. What a turn off.
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The point, for the executives, is to get attention for the network, and this has been achieved.
It's time for "consumers" to turn back into citizens, but in the meantime, turn it off.
Is that what that costume was? I didn’t understand it... a big, stiff square cardboard around her head...
I’m sorry, but where have these people been for the last 30 years. It is MTV, what were they expecting, them having Billy Graham giving a scripture lesson at their music awards? It is MTV, TURN IT OFF..
Fame and fortune at a young age has been growing whores for a while now.
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for anyone to be famous, rich, and moral.
Pat Boone is about the only guy who seems to have made it.
